I feel wierd posting this...lol but FI and I are trying to find a shampoo or some other method to remove the skunky smell from our 1 yr old Catahoula. He has this feral kind of skunky smell that reappears a few days after he's had a bath... and that smell lingers on our carpet and livingroom furniture. :(

We've tried a few deoderizing shampoos but not much luck. The only thing that seems to work is getting him groomed at Petsmart and paying around $40 every two weeks for a special deoderizing treatment they do... we're trying to save for a house so we'd love to find a less expensive solution.

Has anyone else found a miracle product for stinky dogs?? lol

TY in advance!

My neighbor found some stuff called "Pethead" at Marshalls and it has worked WONDERS on her dog. I believe you can also get it at Petsmart or Petco, etc. It's made by the same company as the human "Bedhead" line.

Other than that, I've heard lemon juice works well???

take him to a regular groomer .. not petsmart .. like a place that specializes in grooming, and ask for a "tar bath" its a special shampoo, it works wonders. my mom and i had it done to our shephard/collie (imagine the thick fur!!) mix after he was sprayed, it was the only thing that helped! good luck!

So he wasn't sprayed by a skunk?  Its just his body odor?  I would try changing his diet....what is he eating now? =)
