SURVEY: Who will you walk down the aisle with and why?

I lost my father at an early age but would have loved it if he were there to walk me down the aisle. I would have also liked to have my mom give me away/walk down the aisle with me but she was not well enough to travel. 

So I walked down the aisle by myself.  But, my hubby met me halfway down the aisle and we walked together the rest of the way.  I thought it was a very romantic idea!

BTW, to honor my parents and symbolize their presence in my life, I had their wedding picture cover the base of my bouquet.  So in a way, they did walk down the aisle with me.

What's your plan or if you're already married, what did you do?

What a sweet idea!! I can just picture how romantic that must have been to have your DH meet you half way. And I love what you did with the picture on your bouquet - your parents look gorgeous!

As for me I had my dad walk me down and he kept whispering to me to slow down the whole time because I wanted to just run to my DH!

At first I was going to have my Dad (step-dad) walk me but then I decided I wanted both him and my Mom to walk me. 

I love how you did yours. What a great way to make it unique to your situation!

My father died when I was 13 and my mom and step father split when I was 16 so I dont have anyone to walk me down the aisle so I asked my mom to do it she gave me a BIG thumbs down and said no :( But she did request that I let my twin brother walk me down the aisle so I agreed and thats what Im doing :)

My grandfather took care of me when I was little, until my stepfather came in the picture.  He has been there all of my life, but I moved out and took care of myself since I was 18.

Im doing something similar to you new orchid.  My grandfather is walking me 1/3 of the way, then my stepfather 1/3 and my FI is going bring me the rest of the way.  Im not having a flower girl so on his way (FI) walking to me, he is going to sprinkle some rose peddles and I will walk across them with him.

My grandfather gave me away at our wedding; he has been like a dad to me anyway, and I wanted a male family member to do so.  In some ways, I wish I had asked my mom to do it, but I'm happy with my decision.

My dad will walk me down the aisle. All of you ideas (what you guys have done/are doing) are so sweet! I like the idea of my mom and dad walking me down the aisle, but I know my dad is very traditional so I think he would want just me and him.
