That is very sweet! My parents will walk me down the aisle.

I walked by myself and DH met me halfway down the aisle. It's my favorite moment of the entire day and it makes me tear up even now just remembering it. :)

My plan was for both my parents to walk me down, they are divorced but friendly and while it's traditional for the father to do so, I wanted to honor my mom for all the love and support she's provided me...but it turned out that my mom didn't want to walk! She said she would be too nervous and didn't want the attention on her, but was flattered I asked!

I really think its all about what you want and what is important to you. There is no right or wrong. We were considering having my little brother do it if my dad couldn't make it, or just my mom...it's whatever you feel most comfy with!

My father walked me down the aisle.  My beloved paternal grandfather passed away the February before from cancer so I tied a locket with his photo and wedding ring to my boquet because I really wanted him to walk with me! =(  I rode in his convertible to the wedding so I know he was there every step of the way!

In honor of Mother's Day:

My mother sacrificed a lot when my father passed away as she single-handedly raised 3 children, seeing them all through college, while making ends meet with whatever pension my father left behind.  Always loving, always supportive, always inspiring us to be the best that we can be.

She may not have been able to attend my wedding but I knew she was right there with me praying and wishing the best for me and my husband, as I walked down the aisle.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mothers out there!

Just precious neworchid. My father passed away when I was 13 and wasn't really in my life, I'm having my mommy walk me down and it will be perfect, she has always been by my side. Also FI's parents walked his brother down the aisle, I believe they will repeat for him.

Thanks, Gerri.  I feel a bond with all the brides and brides-to-be here that are missing one or both parents at their wedding, for one reason or another.  A wedding is a milestone that deserves to be celebrated (in physical presence or otherwise) with the people responsible for having taken us thus far.

My dad, my sister (only bridesmaid), my son, and I all rode in the carriage together. Then my dad helped us out of the carriage and escorted my sister to the back of the outdoor chapel. My (then 13 yr old) son walked me down the aisle.

I'm thinking about having both of my parents. My wedding is already not very traditional and my mom and I are very close.

My father was supposed to walk me down the aisle, but was hospitalized the Friday before our Sunday wedding, so our best man did double duty and walked me down the aisle....as in Italian tradition, you are not supposed to walk yourself down (which I was going to do).
