Syracuse or Albany Area?

My FI just got a job transfer offer to either area. Does anyone live in either one of those places that could tell me what the areas are like?, cost of living, best places to live??

My sister lives in the north syracuse area (Liverpool) which is about 10 minutes away from the city. The apartments are not expensive at all. When I was thinking about moving there, she had recommended an apartment to me but I can't remember the name. I'll ask her and let you know :)

I live in Albany! (Kind of...I like in Delmar which is about 10 minutes outside of the city of Albany)...please PM me with any questions that you have about apartments, neighborhoods, houses, etc. As I'm sure you know, there are good and bad neighborhoods and scary places everywhere, especially in big cities. But the differences between one street to the next can be pretty big. The cost of living overall I would say is pretty fair.

I am from Binghamton but lived in Syracuse for a while a few years ago...I miss it so much!! It is a nice sized city, not too big or too small. There is so much stuff to do there- shopping, football/basketball games, imax, etc etc. Some nice areas of Syracuse are DeWitt, Jamesville, East Syracuse, Liverpool...just off the top of my head. I lived in DeWitt and it was a great little neighborhood. The cost of living isn't too bad really. I don't know where you live now but I think my 2 bedroom apartment with heat was like $650 or $700 :)
