i just wanted to say that i am so happy that they brought back the top 20, that they went back to a smaller stage without the crazy distracting lights, AND i am so happy with who they picked for the top 20!!!

Me too!!! I hope they keep it a summer show, I love watching it when its really nice out for some reason. lol

i think they've learned their lesson about keeping it a summer show after that one odd season that they aired in the fall. plus, x-factor will be the competition show on the fall lineup. i totally agree with you tho! sytycd screams summer to me!

and i guess it's safe to talk about who made the top 20 now without being spoilerish! i was surprised that so many people who got a lot of coverage during the audition episodes ended up getting cut, but at the same time, i don't mind it. i always felt like that gave certain people an unfair advantage when the live shows started.

anywho, i was very glad to see that marko germar made it! robert taylor, jr (aka wooo man) will be entertaining. and i'm so happy to see another tap dancer in the top 20! he (i think his name is nick) looks like he's really versatile. there were so many girls that i wasn't familiar with, but i do like sasha and melanie.

and my SYTYCD crush of the season is tadd! couldn't keep my eyes off of him during the hip hop group routine... 

and i don't care that i'm many years older than him :p

I agree that they covered a lot of people that didn't make it... I think a guy is going to win this year. They seem a lot stronger than the girls - which I usually don't say!

Tadd blew everyone else away when they did the hip-hop routine! He was the best dancer - he hit every move and was so clean! I can definitely see him going far in the competition!! Can't wait to see the dances this week!

any thoughts on last night's performances?

melanie and marko's performance (the statues) was my favorite by far. even before i heard the judge's critiques, i had to rewind and watch it again right away! tears and goosebumps!

i was really disappointed with chris scott's choreography in both of the hip hop routines. i expected so much more! those two were my least favorite performances.

i never used to vote before, but now that there is online voting, i sent a few votes for melanie/marko, jordan/tadd, and sasha/alex.

For some reason their names wont stick in my head. I loved jordan/tadd, thought they did a great job! But it might just have been because they were the 1st to dance :P I also loved the quick step - that guy is amazing! Very clean! I did really like melanie/marko's dance, it was beautiful. But for some reason she kind of irritates me... I don't know what it is, she is a beautiful dancer, but I feel like she is a little fake when it comes to her personality or something...

I really didn't like the Jive Dance... I think that was my least favorite.

I really thought everyone did a great job for the 1st week! I'm glad they didn't send everyone home! I think America needs to learn more about each dancer and see them dance in something that isn't their style (it seemed like the style danced was at least one of the parnters).

i was ok with the results also. i was surprised to see tadd and jess in the bottom, but they both killed it with their solos! out of all the solos, i thought mitchell's was the weakest. i suspect the judges felt the same way but didn't feel right eliminating him right away.

i agree that we need to see more of them dancing in styles other than their own! i love the contemporary pieces, but since there are so many contemporary/jazz dancers, i would love if they would include more latin/ballroom routines. my wish is for derek hough to come over from DWTS to choreograph some routines for SYTYCD! i also hope we get to see some tap dancing soon :)

Oh I would love to see some tap dancing! I think that's hard for the show to do though since its not as easy to teach as other styles - I think the dancers that have never taken a class before would have a really hard time with it... That wouldn't be so good for the performance aspect of the show...

Derek should choreograph some of the routines! He's so good at it! I hope they get him on the show!
