Tag Punch vs Circle Cutter

Hi everyone,

I am about to start making tags for the hotel bags, flip-flops, bridesmaid gifts, etc. and I am curious what you've had the best luck with.

My plan is to design the 2" labels (that will be circle-shaped) in Publisher, print them on cardstock, then somehow cut perfect circles and then mat them on slightly larger circles, then hole punch, thread ribbon, etc.

I have purchased a Fiskars Circle Cutter but am wondering if that will be the easiest way to go. Has anyone had success with this? Or am I more apt to ruin to many to be worth it? This gadget looks a little ominous. :-)

Thanks in advance!

Great question Darcy - I'm going to post this on the main board.

Circle punches can work. The trick is to hold the punch upside down and slide the paper in so you can see the design where it's supposed to come out, then punch. That way you can make sure it's all lined up properly. I don't know if that makes sense at all!

This is what I mean by a circle punch: http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/Circle-Hole-Punch-2-1-8/2904.011/457210.html

Same technique goes for the tag-shaped ones. I bought a tag punch from Michaels a couple of weeks ago... It is harder to work on a pattern in that exact shape but I think I'll just print a "wallpaper" sort of pattern and cut out accordingly.. but now I am thinking a circle-shaped one would be fun too!
