For those of you incorporating cultural aspects into your wedding, are you find there to be tension with how much is too much?  My FI is American and his parents have shown some annoyance to some of my family's cultural aspects because they have changed the traditional order of some events.  Example, my engagement ceremony will have to take place when we would normally have the rehearsal dinner.  So the dinner is now a lunch.

Anyone else having issues?  How are you dealing with them?

Oh feel your pain girl. To save ourselves the stress, we've opted to do the engagement and traditional wedding in Nig after the wedding here. Whew feel like I dodged a bullet.

haha... sounds like it.  Now things are going more smoothly, but my FFIL can be a bit abrasive (guy has no filter whatsover).  He literally was like, "this is an American wedding too".  I just stared at him and said, "I know".  lol

Oh KC I can't believe that he said that... although it's an American wedding there are traditions that you have to respect since it is also a multi-cultural wedding.

I know that FMIL is going to be our biggest challenge because she is so darn passive aggressive. I'm just bracing myself because I  know it's coming as the wedding nears.

Yeah, I've just stopped letting what he says get to me.  We really do have a good relationship...he's just uneducated and doesn't realize that what he says is rude and small-minded.  Sigh...all that matters is that FI loves it and is 110% involved. :)

I hope you don't have any issues with your FMIL!!
