Yup, you know what I'm talking about. So it occured to me...hmmm I wonder if I'll be on my period on the wedding day. So I checked...with the Pill schedule you can see pretty clearly that OH CRAP!!!! Sure enough it's my time during the week/weekend of our wedding.

So my roomate in college would always skip hers during the summer (the whole bikini thing) but I've never tried this. I'm skeptical though...I don't want to mess anything up or affect my body in a weird way where I'm spotting, etc. Sorry if this is TMI. Anyway, have you ladies ever tried this? Does is work? I'll of course be consulting my OB but wanted to see real life stories.

I did it once for a hiking trip I was going on. My doctor even recommended I do that. I don't remember it messing with me, everything was fine. But do ask you doctor. That would suck!

My friend in high school did this MANY times. Ya see, she move further up north, but her boyfriend lived near me. SHe rarely go to come down here, and whenever she did..she made sure to skip it. She would have breath through bleeding...but nothing major!

I'm curious to how that one birth control works where you only get aunt flow 3 times a year...I think It's a similar process...but each cycle is more drawn out..KWIM?

LOL..it's funny because this is ONE of the reasons I didn't want to put our wedding date in stone

When I was on the Pill I used to skip a month each once in a while by just skipping the placebo week. I didn't do it all the time, just to make sure I wasn't on my period while on vacation or during an event, etc. I never had any issues except some minor spotting the week before the next period was supposed to start.

I think everyone's body reacts differently and with some Pills today being such a low dose of hormones, I'm not sure if it works differently. Definately talk to your OB and get their opinion. I'm pretty sure they'll understand and tell you how to proceed.

Good luck!

I'll for sure be consulting. I'm one of those ultra-paranoid types so that anytime I'm on antibiotics we use a backup for the week I'm on it and the following week until it's out of my system. And any little difference I'm like "omg I'm pregnant!" So I'll probably do it, and make him use a backup ...just in case. This is probably overkill though..lol

I have done that before but it was on accident. I know that if I miss 3 pills in a row that I will automatically start, so that is an option if you want it to come sooner. I used to worry about it messing my cycle up but it doesn’t, if you want to get back on your cycle you can do so with those pills. I asked my OBGYN a long time ago and she said she does it around certain events as well. And don’t worry about getting prego it takes a long time to get those pills out of your system. If I was going to have Aunt Flow visit on my big day I would side track her trip.

I know- I will be on mine too!!! Im so bummed.

I have skipped those pills before too for a Hawaii trip we wnt on- BUT I still spotted a little unexpectedly for like 2 days :( So still be careful or maybe get your body used to doing it a head of time, rather then just the month of the wedding?

- HMM :)

Oh I've done this many, many times. Especially for vacations. Just skip the placebo pills and start right up with another pack. In fact, doctors these days say there's no reason for women to have their period every month anyway and that there are no health reasons why you shouldn't skip it a month.

Beatie- my OB told me that before too! She said something like women in Europe don't even have their periods on the pill...they just go straight through. HMM-I think you are absolutely right, I'll probably do it way before the wedding, and at an opportune time to skip, maybe this summer?
Thanks ladies!

Mine will fall on my wedding weekend as well but I have been off BC for a few months and am just about to go back on (had to switch brands mine was making me sick to my stomach all the time - so am taking a break). Im hoping once I start up again my period will be thrown off and wont fall on the wedding weekend or even worse the honeymoon =(.

But about skipping the placebo pills, when do you do it? Just the month before? Or right before the wedding? I dont get it - I have never done this before, and having it on my wedding is something I've been freaking out about for a while!
