Hey there, yes I put it off until yesterday as I was really unsure about going when I still had about 30lbs to lose, however they were lovely and looked at what I had lost already, and in what timescale. Then they worked out where I was likely to be in 7/8 months time, and ordered me a dress that would fit me then.

They were so helpful. I felt a bit embarassed that some of the samples didn't fit me but they were lovely about it and really helpful. I ended up picking a dress that didn't fit properly, but it was so gorgeous (even not done up!) that I fell in love with it.

I never expected to find THE DRESS on my first visit to a bridal shop, but it was great. I am now so glad I didn't put it off any longer as they said to me so many people do and then leave it too late, and have to buy shop samples in the larger sizes that they have, rather than getting to choose their perfect dress.

Why not give it a go. It's not as awful as you might think (and I am quite big!!)

I would totally go for it!!!  Focus on how wonderful dress shoppng will be.  your dress willfind you as they say, regardless of hte size.  Have fun!!  Oh and take pics!!!  We would love to see them.

You should definitely go! I was concerned about the same thing, but it was so awesome when I finally went. Don't get so hung up on what size you are. I actually found that wedding dresses tend to be slimming either because of shapewear, the fact that the dress has a corset back, etc. I think you'll be surprised.

I agree with everyone.  And a lot of the dresses REALLY flatter a girl's figure and make her look smaller.  Esp the ones with corsets!  You should go all by yourself and just have fun and feel good about yourself!  I bet you'll be surprised!!!

I was reluctant for the same reason, but it's not so bad.  Once I picked my dress I could visualize how much better it would look if I got in shape and it does prevent  me from going nuts at a buffet or at Thanksgiving. ;P
