How was Your vision and dress the first time you got married and how is it now?

Mine was a hotel werdding, we got married in church and my dress was an off the shoulder, princess, long train dress, silk satin and very clean lines, no ruffles or other frou frou details. I had mu hair up and a flower headpiece.

this time around; I still prefer inside to outside weddings, I have chosen a castle as a venue to give it a solemn feel. my dress will be very simple. what bothers me is that I still HATE naked ceremony arms. I think it looks lovely but my inner grandmother's voice screams VULGAR!!! and this is only me and only valid for myself. I think it looks so beautiful on everybody I just cant stand the thought of everybody looking at my back and behind during the vows, so I want to get a coat. which seems the most difficult thing ever!

how did your vision change?

My first wedding was:-

Church - I wanted outdoor
Groom in full morning-suit - I have never liked them
BP - I didn't want one
Silk flowers - I wanted real ones
Buffet - I wanted sit-down
150 guests - I wanted small & intimate
Honeymoon in Crete - I wanted to go to Dominican Republic
I did get to design my own dress & have it made though!!!

So this time:-
Wedding at a lake, groom in linen pants & shirt, no BP, not sure on flowers yet, catering not decided, 35 guests.

My priorities are completely different this time, it's about my marriage not about my wedding, and I'm confident enough to speak up about what I want!!

My first one was in a church, ball line white dress (with sleeves) with a 3ft train and veil as long as the train.  Reception in a hall and we had chicken.

This time around: we're getting married in a hotel, my dress will be more fitted than the other one, ceremony and reception in the same room, my flowers will be red roses, and we're having a selection of hors d'ouerves and sparkling wine.

My mother was a huge influence the first time around (as in there were things that HAD to be done her way) and this time it's all US.
