how much time is too much?

I was hoping to find a church with a 3:00 ceremony time so that it would give my guests only an hour in between that and the 5:00 cocktail hour/reception ...and give us time for pictures. I feel like more than that may be too much time, but the only ceremony times I'm finding at church's are like 2:00 or 4:00! gahhh!! Is 2 hours in between too much?

Since our ceremony and reception will be at the same place, we are getting married at 2pm and cocktail hour will be from 3-4pm, while we take px. But since you're having your ceremony at a church and reception somewhere else, 2 hours may not be too much b/c you also have to consider travel time. How far is the church from the reception location?

i think 2pm is fine - are you having the full catholic mass (one hour)???

also - what about travel time from church to reception venue??

it cannot be any worse than my cousin's wedding at 9am and then lunch at 1pm - we were twiddling our thumbs!!

we haven't decided if we're going to do communion or not, but we do want the readings, prayers of the faithful and gospel, as well as giving gifts to Mary. so it'll probably be around 45 min to an hour. i guess i just need to hear that it's ok to make my guests wait. not ideal, but i don't think anyone's coming from too far away, and if they are their hotel is in between the ceremony and reception site. travel time from church to venue is prob around 25 min.

i think it will be fine - last wedding i went to - nolan and i (and a bunch of his old college freinds) stopped at a bar on the way b/c of the time difference and we didnt want to be the first ones there - i think it's understood that there will be time in between to allow for pics, travel, etc...

dont sweat it sister ;)

Miss Q... you should be fine.. pick the 2pm time slot, it should be done by 3... then you're gonna do pictures at the church... inside and out maybe, right? so thats prob like 20 to 30 minutes, not too sure.. then the time driving to reception venue? you should be fine.... =) HTH!!

erica

ps.. MissQ, did you find your church yet?

ok good. yes we want pics at the church, but most of the pics i want at my reception place. so maybe with this time i can get to the reception around 4 take my pics there and even *gasp* have time to mingle with the guests during cocktail hour that starts at 5.

dirty and hula- i'm down to 2 now. i went to st. isadore's in danville yesterday and liked it. but then i compared it to my church that i grew up in (which i thought was too far from the reception initially) and it was essentially the same. both have the long aisle and the tall arches an "big doors " (lol hula). I like how you encaptured the feeling dirty! so i'm actually considering my childhood church (all saints-hayward)! ironic huh?

beautiful... hahahahaha big doors... those big doors!! i love churches and i think picking out your church is the most important... that's the MAIN part... i wish i picked my church i grew up in, its just too modern... they knocked down the old church and built a new one... yuck!!! good luck with everything MissQ...
