Does anyone see holes in this? We have no time for a real cocktail hour and aren't inviting much family so my photographer has about 15 - 20 to get a handful of formal photos and that's what we're working with...

5:00 p.m. Grab a drink and mingle

5:20 p.m. Guests seated and prelude music starts

5:25 p.m.  Officiant and Groom stand in place

5:28 pm  Wedding Party processional

5:34 p.m. Bridal entrance

5:37 p.m. Ceremony starts

5:52 p.m. Recessional

6:00 p.m. Guests head from the ceremony into the reception and find their seats.

6:20 p.m. Your emcee begins introducing the wedding party, starting with your parents.
6:25 p.m. Dinner is served. The emcee asks guests to take their seats. Music should be low enough so guests can talk at their tables.

6:40 p.m. A welcome speech or a blessing. If you’re not having either, begin the toasts now -- best man followed by maid of honor.

7:10 p.m. The first dance.

7:20 p.m. The father-daughter dance, which is followed by the mother-son dance.
7:35 p.m. A dance set begins with more upbeat songs to entice most guests out of their seats.
7:45 p.m. A couple of slow songs play.
7:50 p.m. Back to more upbeat songs.
8:30 p.m. The cake cutting.
8:35 p.m. Some mid-paced songs play as cake is served so guests can dance if they want.
8:45 p.m. Guests are seated for cake.
9:00 p.m. The bouquet toss, followed by the garter toss, if you’re doing them.
9:10 p.m. The final dance set. Time to play those songs you felt funny playing while all the elderly guests were still there!
9:55 p.m. The last dance, followed by your grand exit if you’re making one.

That's a great detailed timeline. Is there absolutely no room for guests to grab a drink between ceremony and reception? I just wonder if it'd be awkward to hold your glass of wine during the ceremony...

Awesome timeline!!  That is a bummer that you won't be able to have a cocktail hour, but I have been to a wedding where champagne was served before the ceremony and we ended up having the drinks through the ceremony. If you're only having a 20 minute ceremony, it shouldn't be to bad to hold your drink.

Drinks through the ceremony doesn't seem too bad..

Music has to be off by 10pm or I lose my $3500 deposit so I cut out the cocktail hour for more dancing time.

If I really wanted a drink I'd hold it through the ceremony, haha. We're doing a super short 15 minute ceremony and we'd like people to be having fun beforehand so it doesn't seem like they blinked and the ceremony was over.

I have been to weddings where you have a drink before so you end up with it throughout the ceremony. The ceremonies were probably about 25 minutes to 30 and it really was not a big deal at all (honestly, I didn't even think about it being a thing until the girls broguht it up on here). If you want a drink, you're going to have to hold it. Simple logic. :)

I'm super happy to hear it's not the worst idea ever :)

We held drinks at my friend ceremony too, hers was held in an art gallery and we stood during the ceremony. It was over so quick it was fine, there were no complaints
