Abattyref, thanks for the idea of having one custom made. I don't like poofy veils either. If I get one I want a really long chapel length, sheer non-poofy veil. If you don't mind me asking, was it expensive to have made?

i think for your wedding you should do whatever makes you happiest -- veil or no veil, covering your face or not. i think the "tradition" card gets played so much with everything wedding! i'm not even ever sure where all these traditions come from. 50 years ago (which isn't really that long, if you're speaking about tradition) women wore much different bridal attire. anyways... don't mean to be a downer. i am wearing a fingertip veil with a lace edge, but only because it's killer with my dress. ;)

You can also order it will less fullness at the top so that it isn't as poofy.

That said, I got mine on eBay for $20. Still waiting for it to arrive, so I will hold back my review until I have it in hand.

When I was first engaged, I was not planning a veil, but in recent weeks, I have changed my mind (on my dress too) and want to look more bridal-y...when else can you sport yards of billowy tulle, but on your wedding day?

A Veil.... That's a definite. I'm planning on wearing my hair up and my veil is an elbow length. Only planning on wearing the veil for the formal pictures and the ceremony.

You know, the more I think about it, I might just forgo the entire veil altogether. Is that weird? I have always loved messy up-dos; they are very me, and I was thinking about have one done with flowers pinned down on the bottom. Hmm, Who knows what will happen!

Ali: you could do the messy up-do with flowers pinned on the bottom and stick in veil attached to a comb in as well. If I do a veil, it will be on a comb...like this

I have really long hair, almost to my waist. Im planning on wearing my hair down and curled with just a few pieces on the sides clipped up. I wonder...how do I secure a veil?
