ever since my dog has been a small puppy i have been very strict in his training, after one week he was potty trained except for a few accident here and there. after a couple months he knew, sit, stay, no, down, come here, and stand. ive been so
proud of his training as ive done it all myself without any help and ive never owned a dog myself before although i worked with my parents dogs growing up.
so he's almost a year old now (happy birthday on the 3rd of december ganon!) and a couple months back he starts doing stupid doggy teenager stuff. he never got in the trash before and i came home and for like a week straight he was in the trash
every time. then he started just chewing everything up, mind you he's way past his teething stage. it's not like i would even leave him for very long. i get home by noon everyday, take him to the dog park or on a walk. he is the most pampered thing
in the world.
so i use my usual tactics of training which is to A: try and catch him in the act B: show him the bad thing he did and smack him on the butt, and C: send him to his room. YES HE HAS A ROOM! DID YOU SEE HOW BIG HE IS?
it didn't work! for weeks and weeks ive been trying to get this into his head getting more angry all the time because i know he is just being a stubborn bullmastiff. so not too long ago i came home and he had gotten some of my husbands
CD's out and tore them up! (don't tell him please) so i'm like im gonna try a new tactic.
i tell him to come here right now! (upwards of a million times) instead of going to get him myself i made him come to me, it took forever but finally he came cowering down the steps, i made him sit in front of me and pointed to the cubby under
the tv stand where he got it from. i said "do you see this?" he actually looked at it to my surprise, and i said THATS A NO NO GANON! then i gathered up all the CD's all the while making him sit there and held them up to his nose to sniff and i
said THATS A NO NO GANON!
next day he gets in the trash, i do the same thing, bring him down, tap the trash can and i say DO YOU SEE THIS? THATS A NO NO GANON! NO NO! i hold the trash up to his nose and tell him NO NO GANON AND I MEAN IT! and let him out back.
DO YOU KNOW HE HASEN'T BEEN IN THE TRASH OR CHEWED ANYTHING SINCE? amazing...i think that when i was going to get him he was to scared to understand what i was saying but when i showed him what was a no no and made him smell what he knew he
chewed before he stopped. i just can't belive it, ive never heard of this before but desperate times call for desperate measures.
I LOVE MY BABY, SUCH A SMARTY PANTS!

you can see in his eyes how impressed he is with this whole situation. lol. just thought i would share with those of you that may have the same problem.
