"Troublemaker" Guests??

ok i'm already spazzing out and our "big" wedding isnt til next august...

but.. ummm...

ok - my dad's brother is a complete drunk - as in he's "done time" for several dui incidents - one time he was literally one block from home and he ran into a lamp post and had to pay the city damages!! he and his wife do not get along, but refuse to get a divorce.. when he drinks, he is at first the life of the party - laughing, cracking jokes, jovial - then the asshole switch goes on and he's a raving lunatic!!!

i cant not invite him - but i'm afraid he's going to cause a scene...

and you know i'm really worried about this - it's over a year away and i'm already thinkin about possible rememdy to this...

I have a similar pickle, I might not even invite my half brother, and might not invite my uncle, which would mean my two younger cousins would not be able to attend. It's sad, but I would rather he not even know where the wedding is!

Are you having a DOC?? Maybe she could be authorized to put him in a cab if think are looking bleak?

My FI has a cousin that is the same way. He is not getting invited because when he gets drunk he gets really nasty with the women that are around and in front of his wife. So to avoid problems he is not invited but I just don't know what to say about your uncle. Maybe like jess said have somebody in charge of trying to control the situation so you don't have to worry.

this coming from a crazy nut who called me 5 times bragging that her hubbs bought her a new pathfinder "with everything" - yeah when i saw it, that sh!t didnt even have power windows...

are you having an open bar? would your dad be able to talk to him before the wedding day and just ask him to keep it in check? i'm sure your uncle knows what he's like when he gets drunk and if addressed when he's sober and sane, maybe he'd make a conscious effort to not drink that much?
