Sorry, I don't have any photos for you.

Start poking around on the boards and looking through bios (click on usernames in threads).  PW girls are wonderfully creative and many of us have had budget weddings that look and feel platinum.  Start getting some ideas!  Right click and save photos to your computer as inspiration.

If you rent a banquet hall, you can save money by DIY your invitations, decorations, etc. and by buying an inexpensive dress.  The more involved you get with PW, the more ideas you will get!

Good luck and happy planning!

I had my reception at a banquet hall. My decorations were simple, yet elegant. My entire wedding was a little less than $6000 including my dress

Hi! I am LDS too but don't have any pics of a stake center decorated. I do have some pics of a friend's wedding in the gym but it is not very decorated. My DH and I were married outside on a golf course by our bishop b/c I couldn't think of a way to make the gym look nice without spending a large amount of money. Good luck and let me know if you want to see the pics of my friend's wedding

LDS = Latter Day Saints - and I believe a stake center is like a meeting house.  (???) By BFF back in middle school was LDS, I knew alot then, not so much now.  =)

I'm having my reception at a Carpenter's Union Hall in STL (check my bio for pics), and it usually rents for $800- that includes set up, clean up, tables, chairs, parking lot...etc.  It's definitely off the beaten path, but my aunt knows someone who works here, so through that connection, I'm getting the hall for half off.

Soooo...my advice is, start asking around; you've never know who's got a connection to an unlikely place you haven't thought of.  If you know someone who does a lot of corporate meetings/events- ask them if they have ideas.  Also, you may want to check out local VFW or restaurants with large dining halls, university spaces...the list goes on and on.  Bottom line is be creative, you never know how many possibilities there are.  And you'll get totally inspired by PW.  Happy planning!

Having had my first wedding in the cultural hall at our chapel I highly encourage you to look for another venue! I've been to tons of weddings at both the stake center and the cc and they never looked good. I know it's tempting because it's free but I would search high and low and do whatever it takes to find something else. There's just zero ambiance and it's so limited in what you can do. Good luck!

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions. And LDS is Latter Day Saints (Mormon) =) My fiance is freaking out! Nothing is cheap in LA, we are trying not to have it at the Cultural Hall (Stake Center)
