Hello Brides!!

So, now that I have started planning the wedding I am OBSESSED with uplighting! I've looked into it and of course it can be expensive. Ugh. So, I've seen a lot of brides finding lights and actually buying them for their big days. I was wondering if there were any other Bay Area brides that have done this, and were looking for someone to share with to split the costs with them. Or are there any brides interested in going in on something like this ourselves?

Let me know! Always up for something creative and of course ALWAYS looking to save a few $$$$$~!

hey... i was just going to post the same thing.  i think i am interested in sharing some DIY uplighting. My wedding is in April 2010 in LA, but since i live in the bay area, I think it will be easier to share with a bay area bride. Let me get some info. How many lights do you think you'll need? did you book your venue yet?

I shared my uplights with a fellow PW-er.  It was a great way to spice up the decor affordably.  We bought our stuff at progearwarehouse.com.

i love uplighting as well.  i'm not sure how much uplights are but i my light specialist's prices are pretty reasonable.  he's going to provide ambient lighting, pinspot lighting, and a few washes for under $2k.  still a little pricey, but definitely the cheapest prices i've found (others quoted me about $3k)....good luck ladies and if you need any contacts, just holler !

I'm planning on doing my own uplights... I was doing some calculations and I'm figuring it would cost be well under $500 (not including shipping which I would imagine would be around 30 bucks?).

It's about 14.50 or so for each par 38 can, 90 watt light bulbs are about 5-6 bucks (depending on the brand), and gels are about 1.25 each so even if you buy 20 spotlights (which is a lot) you will still be well under $500.

14.50 x 20 = 290

6.00 x 20 = 120

1.25 x 20 = 25

TOTAL = 435.00

Ok, so far Marimar and Piggly are interested in sharing uplight costs if we end up doing this. (I'm just waiting to hear on a quote from a lighting vendor before I really throw down and do this.)

Piggly: how many u looking for? I'm looking to have 8 or so of these lights and Marimar needs 10-12.

FYI: Mari's wedding is March 20, mine's April 10, and Piggly's on July 10 - time frame works so far! :)
