I'd love to hear reviews if anyone has had any good/bad local experiences with local vendors.

So far I haven't booked much so I'll have to add more later. I can say that I tried on dresses at Rebecca's on Chenoweth Lane and they were very friendly. They also have a nice selection.

I'm looking for an officiant if anyone has any suggestions. FI and I do not belong to a church and we are getting married outdoors so we have no clue who will marry us. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I must say, I'm not 100% pleased with the two bridal shops I went to. I don't have a whole lot of breathing room with my choices, because the specific dress I wanted is only available at 2 places. I went to A Bride's Dream first, and it was so unprofessional and horrible that I went to Terry's Bridal, which is much nicer but I've still found the level of service to be lacking. They're also extremely unorganized, which really doesn't give me a lot of confidence. My FMIL practically had to break arms to get me a color swatch of the bridesmaids dresses, which is ridiculous.

I couldn't be more pleased with my officiant, however. He's a friend of the groom's family. I know he's the minister of a church, but I've no idea what the name of it is. Did you try the vendor search on here to find one? Or, if you don't already know someone or have ties to someone who could officiate, you could do what my FI's cousin did. They didn't belong to a church or anything or know anyone to marry them, so they asked a close friend of theirs to become ordained to perform the ceremony. She said it was extremely easy to do, and it couldn't have taken very long because they didn't plan the wedding for hardly any time at all.

I'm so unconventional on all of this that I don't think I'm much help.  I don't think I'm using a single "wedding vendor".  I bought my dress secondhand from a girl I met here on PW.  We're getting married outdoors at a Christian summer camp and "self-catering" by having someone pick up fried chicken and BBQ, and we're making the sides ourselves.  We're not having a big, traditional wedding cake, but I actually make wedding cakes, so I'd be making it if we were.  Yup, I'm pretty much no help at all. =)

Thanks ladies. CandR I hadn't thought about looking through PW vendors, good idea.

I might have to have a friend do it if I don't find someone. Just doesn't feel as official.

I found some vendors through the Louisville wedding network. http://www.louisvilleweddingnetwork.com/id54.html Also, I've been just asking other vendors I already have. My reception venue gave me some info on the bartender they recommend, and I found my videographer through my photographer. Why don't you ask whoever you've been talking to at your wedding venue? They probably have lists of vendors they've worked with in the past.
