Ohhh, Juliee!! I can imagine how upset you are--and you have every right to be! I don't understand why he would pick it up and just start shaking, that is so rude. Did DJ's brother apologize to you at all?

ohh julez!!! anyone who has EVER done sand art as a child (which im pretty sure every kid did) should KNOW to never shake sand. ever. it turns brown. common sence! 

im sorry he did that, i would aboslutly be pissed too! the only up side i can see from this is, when you and DJ poured it into the vase, it was two "single" people pouring sand in together, and it now being shaken up can resemble that you are no longer singular, every being of your bodies has come into one. 

i know its not the same. and i know the brown sand doesnt look as pretty as the purple and green sand. but its the contents of the vase that is much more important then the outer appearence.

Awww. . .I am so sorry Jules and I know you are heartbroken, but please talk to your brother-in-law. It does not sound like he did it deliberately and I am sure he feels bad as well if DJ explained to him how much it meant to you. 

Yes you have a right to be hurt and upset, but I really don't believe your Dylan did what he did maliciously. I am sure if he knew what it was, he wouldn't have shaken it! And I understand exactly what you mean when something has sentimental value and holds meaning to you but things that may mean something to a woman may not necessarily hold the same meaning for a guy!

Thanks, ladies! It means alot and you all know how to make someone feel better! I will talk to dylan, i'm not going to avoid him forever or never speak to him again. I just need sometime because it was like a complete shock that he did that.

Me and DJ are going to redo it one day soon. If not on our one year anniversary! Maybe on new years. Idk yet.

Aww, this kinda happened to me once too, although not like that. DH & I always bring sand home from each vacation and I layer it in a vase.. you can see how different the sand colors are from all the places. My mom packed it up when we moved, and stored it sideways.. well, all the sand mixed together and it was just one big lump. I was so upset, because it's sentimental for me!!! I totally get where you are coming from! That really stinks.. luckily I was able to save the day and just redo the vase, since I still had sand from the previous trips! 

I'm so sorry that happened to you!!! Maybe you can do something else with the now mixed sand to make it special. I know it will never be the same, but maybe looking at it in a different way now will make you smile :)

Aw, I'm so sorry that happened! I can completely understand you being really upset and even heartbroken because it was something so unique and precious to your special day. Feel the pain, but work through it. That sand is just a thing - what you have with your husband is real and forever and not really represented by sand in a jar. Your relationship with his family should also be forever, so try to forgive your BIL - I'm sure he's super embarassed and that's probably why he didn't apologize. (At least I hope so!)

The sand from our unity ceremony got all mixed up the very next day, and it bummed me out too...we haven't redone it yet but I plan on doing so at some point. It could be part of an anniversary celebration or a vow renewal. Hugs!!
