VH1 Basketball Wives Rant!

Cant say I am a fan of this show. I do not like the way these 'chicks' are representing themselves and its extra annoying the title of the show has "wives' attached to it when only 1 of them is an actual wife.

These women are totally falling into the stereotypical "the catty, ghetto, tacky chick". Instead of building, supporting and loving each other they are hating and tearing one another down. These women are mothers but behave like unruly teens; quick to fight and using not-so-lady like language ;)

I would love to watch a 'reality' show about minority women who handle themselves with class, contributing to their communities/or something, taking care of their children and most importantly with some true ethics and morals.

We are more than basketball wives who have nothing to do all day but "do lunch", gossip and fight.

Am I the only one who feels this way?

Sigh.

Okay, rant over.

I agree. Evelyn seems to be the worst. No class whatsoever. She's quick to fly off the handle in the middle of a restaurant. She's troublemaker. Honestly, they all get on my nerves but I can't help but watch!

Evelyn has a lot of growing up to do. Especially since she has a 17 year old daughter who probably looks up to her.
Sending threatening texts, so quick to yell & fight - You're right, no class!
And Shaq's ex is suprisingly rude as well, I didn't expect that from her. But bird of a feather right?

I saw two episodes of this show during the first season and refused to support it any further. What's so funny is that someone on here made a similar thread about this last year when this show too lol... ..

From what I remember they were a mess and a half but that's what sells. We all know there are classy, positive, well-educated  black women ( of all races, really) who are doing things to support their communities and who have strong values and morals, but let's be for real, how many people are going to actually watch a show like that? That's the sad thing about our culture---we feed off drama. And the more attention/popularity/fame these women recieve, the more inflated their egos will become and the worse their attitudes will be, which is why I don't watch the show.

This isn't directed towards your Allaboutmartini or any fans of show, it's just an observation about our culture... I fully agree that they should be setting better examples for thier children, but then again who am I to judge??

Demyful, I totally agree with you. Our culture feeds on drama, sex tapes and gossip so I can see why shows like this one is popular.

I can only hope Reality TV will change in the upcoming years, we need better shows with better morals.

sad to say as much as you'd love a reality show about classy women, especially classy black women, because it doesn't get the ratings up the same or the blogs burning with gossip, it probably wouldn't even make it to the production table. And a lot of these women know that "drama" helps to keep their name afloat and that 15 mins of fame can turn into 30, and then a week and then month and so on.
