Videographer...Yes? No?

I'm paying for my own wedding and debating about getting a videographer, but omg they are so expensive.  I've seen snippets of some other peoples weddings and it was blah to me.  But then again it wasnt MY wedding. lol  Is it worth squeezing it into my budget and cutting somewhere else?

Could you get a deal with photographer and a videographer?

It dependes on how inportant the video is to you! I decided to go with it and save on other costs. But I realy enjoy waching other peoples videos and it's something I realy want. I don't like the romantic videos so much so I told the videographer to make it a litle crazy and fun.

But most people don't thing the video is that importand to spare the money. It all comes down to choices and compromizes on were to save and were to splurge. 

It depends if you find someone that makes you think wow instead of bleh!!

I found a wonderful guy, but he's $2500 + travel expenses (our wedding is 4hrs away from home!) so it's unlikely that I'm going to have the budget for him and no-one else makes me 'wow' like his videos do so I probably won't have one

OMG YES YES YES! If you can put it in the budget I HIGHLY recommend it! If the ones in your area are just outragious, check craigslist and/or your local colleges for film students.

There is nothing as priceless as being able to go back and watch the video and memories of that day in motion!

I guess I'll check with my photographer for suggestions and do more research. Anyone know of a good videographer in Jacksonville FL. it only lists about 6 of them

I was debating the same question. I decided to also seek talents from college or high school seniors. I really don't have much budget to spare and this way you can get a video at the right price. Some of those kids are really great! (A close friend of ours started that way and now he does some films but mainly rock videos for some well known artists). You might strike gold yet!

i say videographer. you dont have to have them video the entire reception.  you can have them get the entrace and first dance and then they can sit and eat while the guests are eating and get the cake and then leave.  i suggest getting a 10-15 min highlights dvd made too.  that is what you can show others, unless they really want to see the entire wedding.

I would really recommend it if you are able to make it work. I decided to have a videographer record our destination wedding in Jamaica while we are there and I am soooooo glad that I did. The video is beautiful and it is so wonderful to look back on when the mood strikes us. We have watched it multiple times so far since the wedding. The pictures are fabulous, but I just think there is something extra special about the video.

Never thought of regulating the time. I'll look and see what I can work out.
