Water or no water for centerpieces?

Guys, I'm a purple and orange wedding this coming August.  Smaller wedding, most of those people will end up taking photos during the cocktail hour while our ceremony room is flipped into a reception room.  Therefore, I will have very few people available to set up reception decorations for me.  I'm looking to come up with something lovely for each table (and other decorations).  One thing I've thought of is glass cylinders or glass containers of any shape or size filled with either purple or orange colored water and with a big ol silk flower blossom floating on top.  However, the water issue could be a challenge to do quickly, and neatly.  Is there such a thing as glass containers with watertight lids?  Then we can have everything ready in the venue's basement and all sealed up so that they can be moved upstairs quickly and no one has to worry about pouring water into containers.

Otherwise, what suggestions might you have for me?

Thanks!

Welcome to Project Wedding! I have been googling to see if I could find any type of vases with lids and had no luck. Instead of using water, maybe you can just fill the vases with rocks and the flowers or with candles and have the flowers surrounding the vases if their is a time constraint. You could do something like the below image but without the water or instead of using rocks, use colored gems to match the theme of your wedding. Hope I helped a little!

Welcome to PW!!!

You might also want to consider gel beads to put into your vases or other containers.  You place these beads into water, which they soak up and they turn into beads.  They are very pretty and not very expensive.

Here is a pic of what they look like.

You can find them in craft stores, Walmart, Target, etc.

HTH!

I would definitely suggest against the water and try to find something you like similar to the ones pictured above.

I work weddings all of the time and even with my team of 3, we are hurrying to get the water filled vases to the tables. They are heavy, water sloshes, and it is just very difficult to handle in a time constricted environment.

I'm doing a mixture. Water beads and submerged flowers so that its not an overkill of work when the reception is over. And you can buy colored lights or different colored beads with a white light.
