Since I got my bfp I have been having mild AF type cramps but nothing crazy(I am in week 9 right now). They didn't last long enough for me to really be bothered by it. Last night I started feeling crampy but they were much stronger and it was constant. I asked DH for the heating pad, which I hardly ever use, because I didn't want to take Tylenol but I needed something.
I finally went to sleep but woke up a few times through the night because of the severity of the cramps. I got up for work this morning around 5:30am and went to the bathroom and there was bright red blood in the toilet and when I wiped and I still had really strong cramps. I woke DH up and told him and asked him to call into work because we currently share a car and live about an hour away from the hospital. I had to get on a conference call with some clients so DH called the dr while I was on my call.
It was stressful beyond belief. I was crying while I was on the phone but DH says I sounded completely normal. I sent an email to my boss to see if there was someone that could take over a project for me later in the morning. I finsihed around 8am and finally got to talk to DH and hear what the dr told him.
The doctor told him not to worry but that he did the right thing in calling immediately. They told him to bring me in asap and they would fit me in.
We got to the hospital (RE and OB work out of a practice that is part of the hospital) and we waited all of 4 minutes before they brought us back.
They did the ultrasound and she looked grim but then she smiled and all of a sudden we could hear the heartbeat on the speakers. Our little munchkin is apparently doing just fine. The heartbeat was strong and even stronger than it was on Monday and it waved at us on the monitor!
There was no clear reason for the bleeding but I was told to take it easy so no sex, no lifting, no exercise etc until I have my first regular OB appt on Oct 7th.
I believe I will be telling my boss about the pregnancy a little sooner than I planned. Like, later this afternoon. I should have listened to you guys when I asked about telling work. It was hard to let him know I had an emergency and be vague about it at the same time....
Anyway....phew!
I am home now resting and working from my bed.
Thanks for listening!

Omg, Jady! I was sooo nervous reading this post! I can't imagine how scared you must have been...I am so so so glad baby is doing wonderful (and you even got to see a wave :)

I think it's a smart idea to tell your boss, too. Since you are constantly on the go, it'll put you more at ease to know that you don't have to hide anything and your boss will understand if you ever need to visit the doc at the last minute (but hopefully you won't EVER AGAIN!). You are inspiring me to do the same with my boss.

So glad everything's ok!!!

Wow!  I'm so happy to hear you and baby are just fine.  I agree with telling your boss sooner rather than later.  I told my boss at 6 weeks because of my m/s and upcoming doctor appts.

Oh, I'm sure that was pretty scary!!  I'm glad that you and baby are okay though!

Thank you, girls!
It was definitely scary and enlightening. We tried for a very long time to get a bfp so of course I knew how much I wanted to be pregnant and have a family BUT having this scare made me realize how much I want THIS baby and how much we already love it and feel protective of it. It was scary but amazing at the same time.
I am still cramping but nothing on the level of what I felt last night or this morning. And no more bright red blood. Just a little bit of dark brown spots when I wipe.
And, yes, the silver lining was that we got to see the baby again. very cool... :)
Thanks for the support. I <3 you guys :)

Were they able to tell you why you're cramping and spotting?  I'm glad it's nothing compared to what you were feeling earlier. :)

So glad everything is ok. I bet that was scary.

I am at week nine too and last night I was having pretty intense AF like cramps and aches too. It lasted for quite a few hours so I decided to go to bed early 8:30 to be exact. Luckily no bleeding. I am wondering if I am just super exhausted working all day with 3rd graders. I usually feel the worst at night. So glad you are good though!

My Dr. also warned me that somewhere around week 10- 12 I should have some more cramping due to my uterus stretching/ moving some more.
