So I still dont have pro pics yet (grrrr) but I'm trying to figure out where would be the best place to build an album- DH and I like the more modern looks, so I dont just want to get them printed and put them in whatever album is out there (Im in San Diego too, so if anyone knows of a good place that can help for a *reasonable* amount of $$ let me know!)

I really love the idea of making like a coffeetable book with the cover of the album looking like an actual book with our photo on it like this site -- (of course, the pics are going to look so much different than this sample since it was a garden wedding, buuuuttttt)

I hear Blurb and My Publisher are ok, but I am always a little weary of designing something online and ordering without seeing a proof first :)

Ideas?

If you're going to do it yourself, I'd definitely recommend MP over Blurb.  MP has thick, heavy, quality pages and blurb are definitely more thin.  The color quality is really good with MP, but the only thing about it is you cannot have a picture "wrap" around the book.  You can do a cut out cover or you can do the dust jacket, which is what I did for our photo guest book.  I was very happy with the way it turned out, here are some pics:

Also my photographer that took our engagement pictures said mpix.com is really great and he uses that site.  HTH!

I checked out mpix a little, but it didn't seem very user friendly and thats why I went with MP. Im almost positive we will make our wedding book through MP too. :)

Ash and Pinky...i agree about mpix, i look at/post on their forums a bit...its not as user friendly, and i think more geared towards photogs ordering prints/albums for customers....but anybody can sign up....

yah, i just looked at mpix and I wish they would have like ideas and samples up there like the other places. Oh well, if its geard toward a different crowd, I should stick to the albums-for-dummies sitesl. I am not computer firendly :) lol

popsugar is like a celeb gossip site...but they have other "sister site" like fabsugar for fashion, bellasugar for beauty, idosugar for weddings, lilsugar for kids/babies, many others, but geeksugar is all techstuff...

links to other "sugars" are on the left....

I plan to use somerset albums.  They are definitely more expensive than using mypublisher or blurb, but they look so professional at half the cost...
