Okay, so me and my FI are super broke with wedding to plan. Rings could easily blow our whole budget so I've been doing my homework.
My engagement ring was a custom white gold setting from an existing .25 carat marquise diamond that I had set sideways instead of the traditional up and down. Total cost: $500 for 14k gold.
We are going to get him a tungsten or titanium wedding band which can run in any direction and I found a few online so our budget for that will be $75. I'll post if we end up hating the quality.
Now is where it gets good! I stopped by a Zales outlet in a shopping center near my house (didn't know they existed until today) and asked the girl about lower priced wedding bands for women. She pulled out this $975 channel set 1/2 carat
wedding band and it's on sale for Vday weekend at ....$500! I still wasn't thrilled with it because I've got short stumpy fingers and it felt like a brick doubled up with my engagement ring. She pulled out two more rings. They were both pre-owned and the
one I love is the EXACT SAME RING as the $500. It's just a little thinner in the band which was perfect. I didn't have a cast of diamonds supporting my third finger to the knuckle. It was normally $625 on sale for.... wait for it... $189. Yes you
read that right. 14k white gold band, 1/2 carat diamonds. My grandmother used to be a gemologist told me there was nothing wrong with these rings. The last one is 1/4 carat diamonds, 1/4k white gold band for $89 freakin dollars!
I honestly would be happy with either of the last two, but I really want the $200 with the way the stones are set. I just wanted to show people out there who can't afford much that you CAN get what you want if you take some time to investigate
and arn't offended by the term "pre-owned". :)
If I get to take it home tomorrow, I'll post a pic so you guys can see both of the rings!
