I recommend The Complete Wedding Planner and Organizer.  It's purple, and it has really nice photos and ideas.

I used "Weddings for Dummies" as a starting point at the very beginning - I'd be to zero weddings when I started planning, so it was a very useful overview of the basics.

I liked The Knot books, they had a little bit of everything for the newly engaged to educate themselves on.

I just keep a notebook and jot down anything I can think of.

My budget is all laid out on an excel spreadsheet... It's not the most organized, but the last thing I need is a big book for me to flip thru ><

I bought quite a few but haven't used any of them as much as I have used Real Simple Weddings. It is a great resource. It has a timeline where you can mark off things as you complete them. It talks about everything from food, to flowers, to attire. All of chapter two discusses budget. I keep mine of an excel spreadsheet. I made a sheet of how much I have allocated to each expense and then I have another one to track my spending to keep me on track.

HTH!

I kept a binder. I also had a folder on my computer with several folders divided by categories. Anything I found on the web I saved into the individual folders. Also had a ton of spread sheets and kept track of my spending.. First I estimated how much I would like to spend on each item, then the actual amount... When I did not keep track I would spend carelessly.

It was very important to keep track of my budget and stick to it as best as possible.
