Hi guys, this might be a stupid question but here it goes!!! Do you really have to give ur guest wedding cake. The cake i want is 5 layers, but i thought to save costs i can ask my baker to make a really awesome black forest chocolate cake layer at the bottom for the picture (the cake cutting) the rest of the layers will be fake. but the cake will still look like the real deal. I am giving my guest dessert. so the question remain... would it look funny if i dont give them from the wedding cake??????

Have a sheet cake in the kitchen ready to serve your guests, it'll be cheaper then having a 5 tier of the real thing. Cheers!

hmmmmm i've never been to a wedding where cake wasnt served for dessert altho i've been to one where they served a different cake form the back that looked nothing like the wedding cake they cut)... i dont think it's a rule that you must offer wedding cake! some couples opt for cupcakes, or pies, or gelato, some couples offer a dessert buffet, ice cream/sundae buffet bar with all the toppings.

what kind of dessert are you offering? it may be confusing to the guests at first, but it's your wedding - do what you feel is best kwim?? i'd say go for it if that's what you and spencer want :)

the last time i was a bm - they had wedding cake - but then also offered a dessert buffet so if the guests didnt want cake they were able to choose their own dessert.

if you have a sheetcake - you may be charged a cake cutting fee if it's form an outside bakery...

also - i've been to a wedding where my cousin did this - and some of the guests grumbled about not getting the "same" cake (ie i overheard my aunt complaining - "what were they too cheap to get us the same cake?")

My first idea was to have a sheet type of cake, chocolate brownies to be exact, coz the FI loves it. I guess this confirms my first thoughts... Thanks ambersmith & d1rtymart1ni. You just made my life so much easier... one less decision to stress about.

Luckily our venue gives us 10 places to choose from and different style cakes, but on top of that the venue will also have various cookies, watermelon fruit boat and novelty ice creams :) - if we didn't pick this place, I was going to do exactly what you thought of, the sheet cake and the bottom layers be fake. :) Good luck

Hi! Where are you located? Our cake came with the package but the bakery we went has some reasonable cake. I believe their cake is 88 cents per slice. Our cake came out really beautiful (PIB) and delicious. Everyone loved the cake and complained that they only got a slice. If you are from so cal you can contact Ontario-Bakery.

you can actually do that to your cake. just tell your baker how you want your cake to be. for the guests, you can give them cupcakes or others. have your wedding invitations made now!
