We're not doing favors at our wedding as it's just us and immediate family, so we thought about doing nicer personalised gifts instead.

I was googling for 'cymbidium sprays' and came across this:

What do you think of giving a platter as a gift from the bride&groom. Is it in any way a strange thing to give/receive? (I honestly have no idea :S)

What are you gifting to your close friends and relatives? =)

I think that's a beautiful platter. =) Maybe you can pair it with a lovely hand-written note of appreciation. Your guests will love it. =)

I wasn't planning on giving them a huge separate gift, since I am already paying for the dress, hair, and makeup. I think if I did it would be some jewelry or maybe a cute inexpensive purse. For the guys, I think Joe's planning to get them personalized basketball jerseys.

I didn't know you were supposed to give gifts to close relatives? I suppose if I did, I would give my mom a teapot and Joe's parents a bunch of steak.

I think that's a super cool idea, especially, if remember correctly, you're only having a handful of guests. At my brother's wedding they bought crystal platters for the reception that had humming birds on them (their theme was humingbirds and freesias) and they had enough to give to each lady in the family ater the wedding. Everytime I use it I think of them and their wedding day. I am sure the same will be said for you.

I also like the linen coasters...I want them! :-D

Margeret- I don't think it's customary.. but I figured since our family are all spending so much to come out and celebrate with us, it would be nice :)

FI seems to think that the leis we're giving them at the ceremony will be enough.. but I wan't something more long-lasting and which they can take home

Sorry I'm a little late on this post. :) I think that's a beautiful idea. That way they can keep it forever and it will remind you and your friends/family of your special day.

I also thinks it's a beautiful idea, and I think a story like loridecter's proves what a memorable gift it will be. I also like Margaret's idea of having a separate note.

Oh and we've already ordered our thank you cards, they're the same style as our Invites, just blank folded cards so we'll definately be hand writing them
