Are any of you planning a wedding/reception on a boat on the lake (off of Navy Pier) or did you have such a reception? We are exploring this possibility and I'd love to hear about your experience - pics are welcome of course :-). Thanks.

We looked into this when we were first looking for venues.  We LOVE the idea of it, especially since FI is an avid fisherman.  The only downside was that it was pretty expensive for us to do, and we were worried about guests getting sea sick.  I know it's only Lake Michigan, but I get seasick on there all the time when we go on Fi's boat!

i'd also think, what if guests have to leave early? they wouldn't be able to get off the boat!

I loved the idea, looked into it and was shocked how much it would cost!

My company works on most of the boats at navy pier. I've seen a few weddings there as well as cruised on all of the boats, and I can tell you that the Odyssey cruise ship is by far the best. Their staff is awesome and they take care of you every need, the DJ's are great, and food is amazing esp the vegetarian meal =] You would also get the most amazing wedding pictures(esp at night) with the beautiful skyline. The boat ride has always been really smooth whenever I've been on it but I think that depends on the time of year and the weather. And for GinaBEE you can reqest extra dockside time before the boat leaves so that u can have ur cermeony and guest that cant stay can leave or you can do extra dockside during the reception and guest can leave as they please...

Hope that was helpful =]

I also checked into that... around $200 a person, yikes!
