We paid about $2,000 which is in the middle of the spectrum in Phoenix and that was just for the disc. I had fallen in love with a photographer that was about $5,000 which was way over my budget. I wish now that I would have just done it.

Thanks for the compliments and encouragement. I think I'm definitely going to send her a note now. Especially when other people see it too.

Hi johannaa, I honestly think the pics that you posted were very nice. I especially love the one with you and your DH on the lawn with the bouquet in front. The details of your wedding look fantastic and it looked like everything was beautiful, especially you! I'm sorry your pics weren't what you were expecting. I'm wondering if you saw pics that your photog showed you, like in a portfolio or something? Maybe you can compare the quality of the work she showed you to the quality of what you receive so that she may give you a discount of some sort? What did you get for $2,000? I know it's standard in that area, but honestly, it's standard for a professional photog, so if you don't feel that yours was, then she's not worth $2k, kwim? Please share your review here as well so that other brides know what they are getting into!

EDIT: OH, also maybe you can consider a trash the dress or "day after" shoot with your FI and maybe your family to get portraits of you in your dress? You can probably get that $5,000 photog do it for you for you with an a la carte price?

I don't think they are as bad as you probably think they are, but it does really seem like she doesn't get lighting/shadows. For how much you paid, I would probably have expected better too. I would definitely talk to her and ask for a discount, especially if they are drastically worse than what her sample photos were that you saw.
