I love the idea of wedding signs - especially for outdoor weddings...adds a nice little touch. I was inspired by the ones from Etsy Seller, Family Attic. Here's an example of their products:

So I decided to make my own version. I love the script font...but I didn't know how to do something like that without royally messing up . So I found these little letters at Michael's Arts and Crafts. The signs are hanging from shephard hooks:

Materials:

4 Wooden signs in the shape of arrows from Michaels (approx $3.50 each with coupon)
1 Antiquing paint kit from Michael's (approx $8 with coupon) - comes with Base paint, gloves, antiquing paint and brush
4 Shephard Hooks from Joann's (approx $4 with coupon)
34 letters from Michael's (2 Ceremony, 1 Cocktails, 1 Reception) (approx $15)
1 can of spray paint (black) (FREE - FIL supply closet)
8 eye hookie thingies that screw into the wood and wiring (FREE - FIL supply closet)
Wooden glue (FREE - FIL supply closet)

Total cost = approx $35 for 4 signs

Instructions - Super Easy!

1 - Paint arrows with base paint and let dry. Do one side at a time and let dry before moving onto the opposite side.

2 - Paint antiquing paint onto arrows (do one at a time and in small patches) wipe with damp cloth to get antiquing effect. Wipe with dry cloth to get more distressed look. I did it both ways. You can see from the pics that the Reception & Ceremony signs are darker/more distressed - this effect was created with the dry cloth.

3 - Spray one side of the letters and let dry. Once dry, spray paint the other side of the letters.

4 - Once the letters and arrows are dry, you can glue the letters on with wood glue. Make sure you practice first and us a ruler and a pencil to keep letters straight and evenly spaced.

5 - Mark where you want to place the eye hookie thingies. Should be evenly spaced and int he middle of the arrows.

6 - Wrap the wire around the hooks.

Voila - you are done - the longest part of this project is the drying time!
