Prelude -Guitar by Mateus

Processional

Aloha and Welcome,

In Hawaiian Legend the woman chose her mate by the giving of the lei to the man she desired to be with. In this way our ceremonies begin with the giving of the lei form the woman to the man. As the lei are given a kiss on either side of the cheek is given….

Bidya you may now put the lei on Dave’s neck and kiss his cheeks and Dave in turn to Bidya!!

I now call for a moment of Silence.

To the sun, moon, stars… earth, water, rivers, wind we call your presence in to the sacred ceremony of honoring the unity of these two souls.

Intentions

This Ceremony is an outward statement to the family, friends and the world of the blessed union between Dave and Bidya.

This is a time of passage, a rite of passage from one way of being to another. We acknowledge the blessings of God and our ancestors…

As your two rivers combine they will open to a valley of vast and beautiful new beginnings. The bond of spirit strength evokes protection as faith and trust ensure endless comforts and awareness.

May these souls of sacred union join forces to be delightful and abundant with well being and divine nature. Thank you mother Maui and thank you father sky.

Flower Ceremony

Dave and Bidya as you get to know each other as the many years go by, out on through time with every action and response as you make your lives together on the journey into the depths of the dance of creation may the blessings of life fill your hearts with joy and allow and sadness to strengthen your bonds. Your lives have brought you through many journeys, roads traveled, joys, sadness, experiences that have shaped who you are today.

The sweet smelling fragrances of life through the intensities and playful moments we honor all that has brought you to this moment. Please take a moment to reflect on your life as you each take a handful of petals from the basket. Smell in all that life has given you. In a moment I will ask you to release all the past as you step into the future together. As you release the past I will ask you to release the flowers unto the wind. You may now release the petals.

I will now ask you to each take a few petals from the basket.

Each flower’s petal holds an emotional presence in this ceremony, the flowers essence becomes apart of your union as it incorporates into your beings. The essence contains inner peace, trusting one's inner knowing, intuition; self-confidence, Spiritual surrender and trust.

These petals represent your future together, smell in the sweet fragrance. When partaking of theses flowers into your bodies you both will be calling theses characters into yourselves and relationship. You may now feed each other the petals you are holding.

Vows

Marriage is a time to laugh and love with endless compassion and kindness…

Please face each other and look deep into each others eyes…

Dave do you take Bidya to be your wife?

Dave please repeat after me

I, Dave, will love you, Bidya, for always… I will honor you with kisses and praise for the beautiful love of my life… I will care for you in the kindest ways I know how… I will wake up each morning to see you next to me and give thanks to all that is that you are by my side… I will quietly smile each night in the thoughts of our love growing stronger as each day has passed. I will laugh and play with you as often as the wind blows across the mountains. I will look into your eyes with eternal bliss. I, Dave, will love you, Bidya, as my bride and wife from this day forward.

Bidya do you take Dave to be your husband?

Bidya, please repeat after me

I, Bidya, will love you, Dave, for always… I will honor you with kisses and praise for the beautiful love of my life… I will care for you in the kindest ways I know how… I will wake up each morning to see you next to me and give thanks to all that is that you are by my side… I will quietly smile each night in the thoughts of our love growing stronger as each day has passed. I will laugh and play with you as often as the wind blows across the mountains. I will look into your eyes with eternal bliss. I, Bidya, will love you, Dave, as my eternal love and husband from this day forward.

Ring Ceremony

The circle of the ring symbolizes the never-ending circle of love and commitment that you are making here today.

Native to the Big Island of Hawaii, the Koa wood and Ti leaf ring blessing

Koa is a treasured and valuable hardwood that represents integrity and strength, which are foundational qualities of a marriage.

The Ti leaf represents prosperity, health and blessing of body, mind and spirit.

The water signifies two things: First, washing back into the ocean, symbolically, any hindrance to your relationship. Secondly, it represents a brand new beginning as husband and wife.

The leaf is dipped into the bowl, and the water is sprinkled three times over the rings while the following chant is recited: “Ei-Ah Eha-No. Ka Malohia Oh-Na-Lani. Mea A-Ku A-Pau,” means:

“May peace from above rest upon you and remain with you now and forever.”

Ti Leaf and Lava Rock Ceremony

This is another significant and beautiful part of the traditional Hawaiian wedding. The lava rock is symbolic of the moment you made a lifetime commitment to one another. It is wrapped in a Ti leaf and left at the ceremony cite as an offering, prayer and blessing which remains steadfast at the place of your marriage, marking the birth of your union, while your rings are a symbol of that commitment that travel with you wherever you go.

BLESSING AND EXCHANGE OF RINGS:

E pule kakou

We acknowledge the blessings of these rings, which Dave and Bidya now give to each other. The rings are symbols of the unending love between you both. May these rings always be a reminder to you of your special love and aloha for each other. The circle of these rings is symbolic of the sun, the earth and of the universe: of whole ness, of perfection and of peace. These rings are the symbol of unity. The rings you receive today are the symbols of the shared love into which you enter together as husband and wife. Bless these symbols, these rings we pray.

Please face each other,

Dave, repeat after me,

Bidya, I give this ring as a symbol of my love that is complete and endless. This ring is a symbol for me and all that see it of my commitment to you. From this day forward you shall not walk alone. My heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home. And with this ring I thee wed.

Bidya, repeat after me,

Dave, I give this ring as a symbol of my love that is complete and endless. This ring is a symbol for me and all that see it of my commitment to you. From this day forward you shall not walk alone. My heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home. And with this ring I thee wed.

Pronouncement

By the exchanging of vows and the giving and receiving of rings you have proclaimed and affirmed your intentions to enter into a sacred union. In recognition of the above and as a minister and in accordance with the laws and statutes of the State of Hawai’i, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
