Weekday Wedding, anyone?

What are your opinions on a weekday wedding (Monday-Thursday). I am looking have my wedding in a rustic barn location and am just AMAZED by how expensive this is (I honestly thought a barn would be on the cheaper side). The location I am currently in love with has GREAT deals for Monday-Thursday weddings - MORE THAN 50% off the Friday-Sunday prices! This is ideal for my fiance and I, since we don't have a lot of money and are doing a lot of diy projects for the big day.

But the problem is, is a weekday wedding lame? I would probably do it on a Monday, so that our guests could take a three-day weekend. I know this won't be a problem for most of my guests, but I'm not sure about others. Our guests would also have to travel, since the location is about 4 hours away. However, like I said, it IS on Monday and I might even consider doing it on a holiday which most people have off (Columbus Day, MLK day, etc).

Have any of you done a wedding on a Monday-Thursday? How did it go?

I am comtemplating something like that to save catering cost our biggest expense. But not sure because i know many people will not be able to attend.

What about a lunchtime reception and a morning wedding. Those tend to be super inexpensive.

I am using a community hall which is only $150 for the entire day. It is a historic building also have you looked to privately owned barns vs ones usually used for these sorts of events.

I thought about that too because thee venue i wanted was 1/3 of the price vs. the Fri, Sat and even Sun. So I ended up finding another location which was even better, more accomidating and better price. To be %120 honest a barn/rustic wedding is my ultimate dream wedding. I hope it turns out wonderful. Like IdoAgain said. Try private owned barns. Sometimes its hard for people to take off weekdays.

I personally think that weekday weddings can be a little inconvient for those who would love to come, but can't get the time off. That being said this is your wedding and you have to do what is best for you. : ) Especially if the price is right.

My coworker had a Thursday wedding boy did she hear about it from everyone complaining. But in the end everyone she wanted there (Family, close friends) all made it.

You will get people who can't make it but if you give your guests enough notice (STD's what not) You should be fine and most should be able to make it.

You will get people moaning and groaning but you just have to tell them this is what I want and its what we can afford so if you don't like it too bad you're not paying you don't have to come.

I've never been to a weekday wedding, but in all honesty, if I was invited to one, I wouldn't care what day of the week it was!! :D But a weekday wedding, I think, would be such a cool change from the more common weekend wedding - I say go for it!! And if people complain, let them - it's your big day and you're entitled to be happy! :)
