Tell us about your work!

How long have you been teaching?  What do you teach?  Do you love your work?

I teach music - specifically private violin and viola lessons - although I have taught group orchestra, piano, and music classes and just find that I work better one on one.

It's my passion!  Everytime I gripe about my schedule (that being working from 3.30 - late depending on students schedules after school) I teach a lesson and remember why I love what I do and how lucky I am to do it.

This is only my second year teaching so I am still kind of a "newbie" at it. I love my job, everything about it!

Hi!  I have been teaching first grade for 11 years!  I love teaching, but I think it's time to change grade levels.

I teach middle school Special Education, I've been teaching for 5 years and I love it!!!

People sometimes wonder if it's difficult to teach special needs children, and I admit that sometimes it is, but the reward is so amazing.

I graduated with my degree for elementary education in May 2010, but I'm currently unemployed. I'm in grad school for my Master's in Special Education and I'm on the job hunt. :)

How did I not know about this group?! I teach 9th and 10th grade English.  Don't judge grammar here.  It doesn't count on PW. :)

Edit:  Oh, I've been teaching for three years.  There are days I love my job and days I hate it.  I think almost every job is like that though.

I've been teaching high school English for 6 1/2 years (I started teaching in January 2005).  Throughout those years, I have taught 9th-12th grade, some on-level courses, some co-teach/support facilitate courses, an AP course, and this year, I'm adding advanced to the list.  I have to say that I love teaching sophomores and seniors; I seem to work well with those two levels.

I do love my work, and the only times I don't like it is when I'm frustrated at the "system" and those students who I know can do so much better than what they are doing.  I've never hated a single student, though some have certainly made me earn my paycheck!  For the past three years, I managed to follow the same group of students from their sophomore year to their senior year (it just worked that way), and I absolutely loved that group to pieces--they were just an awesome group of kids.  This year will be the first year in a long time that I will have not taught a single one of my students, so it should be interesting.  The students start on Monday, so here's praying to an awesome year!
