I've been teaching high school English for 6 1/2 years (I started teaching in January 2005). Throughout those years, I have taught 9th-12th grade, some on-level courses, some co-teach/support facilitate courses, an AP course, and this
year, I'm adding advanced to the list. I have to say that I love teaching sophomores and seniors; I seem to work well with those two levels.
I do love my work, and the only times I don't like it is when I'm frustrated at the "system" and those students who I know can do so much better than what they are doing. I've never hated a single student, though some have certainly made
me earn my paycheck! For the past three years, I managed to follow the same group of students from their sophomore year to their senior year (it just worked that way), and I absolutely loved that group to pieces--they were just an awesome group
of kids. This year will be the first year in a long time that I will have not taught a single one of my students, so it should be interesting. The students start on Monday, so here's praying to an awesome year!
