What are you doing with the things you made and bought for the reception that no one takes or were just a prop?

My sis in law had 50 left over mini vases because people did not take home their favors. I finaly used them all over the last 8 years. Yes, that is how long it took to find another use and turned into a gift.

I sold a lot of stuff. Tea lights, LED votives, my veils, etc. Some of the stuff I left at the venue for them to use...other stuff probably got thrown away, but at that point, I didn't want to take it home. What would I have done with it!?

So I think I did an equal amount of using some stuff (as decor in my condo), selling items to other brides (made some $ back! hallelujah!) and probably tossed some stuff (like the foam chalkboards I made and flowers, etc) I still have a small small box of stuff that I'm not sure what to do with. I will save it to possibly use when I have more space :)

We sold it to another bride on craigslist!

I will have to check Craigslist now and see if I can find anything useful.

I have only a little bit of leftover stuff.  Mostly the vases and candleholders.  The paper plates and cups will get used.  I will probably put the other stuff on here if anyone wants to take them.  What I was surprised with was that there were no champagne glasses leftover.  I had enough for 60 and we only had tables for 40.  I was busy with people asking me questions that I didn't get to see the whole clean-up even though we were there (and I hadn't planned that).  I also had these lovely silver snowflakes (yes, real silver, like pendants and not confetti) that were part of the table decorations and I didn't get any back!  I kind of wanted a few to decorate my china cabinet but they were all gone. :(

I would sell my stuff online.

2 years later I still have bags and boxes full of stuff like votives, ribbon, photo frames, card stock etc. The centerpieces were all rented so I didn't have to worry about those!

I went through something similar but for a differrent event. I spent $75 on balloons for a Blue and Gold Ceremony and one lady took ALL of the center peices. I paid for them and I wanted my son to get at least a single balloon. People can be incredibly rude.

Blue and Gold is for Cubscouts

I told my MIL that I was buying Tea cups for this event and she was like that is great I get to add another to my collection. How do I tell her that the cups are not a keepsake for guests. The keepsakes for guests are the handmade tea bags and attached poem.

BTW since this is only a VOW Renewal No one is bringing gifts therefore I am really not required to provide something other than a small token to say thankyou for helping us celebrate the day.

The things I don't mind people taking will be the balloons, snowflakes, and their tea-bag. The center pieces are antique collectibles that I am giving to my daughter for her Hope Chest along with the Lace Linnen table clothes.

I really hope I don't have to tell people this. I find these sorts of things understood in basic manners, but so many lack decorum.

Since I have a big family, my mom boxed it up and put it in the attic -- for others to us!
