Hi girls, I'm just curious, do you know what song you will be walking down the aisle to?

I am having live solo guitar music for the ceremony and I am just looking into music - he said I can have as much or as little control as I want regarding the music....yippee for type A me! Ha ha!

So, Im looking for inspiration. Will you list your songs for me?

THANKS!

I'm thinking of the "The Wedding Song" by Kenny G...I'm not having a traditional wedding either. Also, "how deep is your love" by the Bee Gees is catching my ear too. For the Processional, I'm definately doing "aint no mountain high enough" by marvin gaye and tami terell

We are having a solo guitarist play Canon in D Major by Pachelbel

I really want to walk down the aisle to Moon River because Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my fiance and my favorite movies. The only thing I'm worried about is that that song gets me so emotional that I'm afraid I'll me a wreck before I even get to the altar. My FI is more traditional in that regard and I am more...not. I really want something different to walk down the aisle to. Now, I need to convince my FI;-)

And then I want to have Get the Party Started by Pink on our way out. I think that would be major fun. He's all for that one, go figure.

A slide guitar rendition of "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles

Oh Moon River, nice. My dad used to sing Here Comes the Sun to me when I was little - I don't think I'd make it all the way down without crying like a huge baby!

I'm really lame but I just told my pianist to do whatever she wanted.

If you want classical music that's different I think these are good, but you may have different tastes so listen to the whole piece and see what you like:
Vivaldi L'inverno - Largo or Vivaldi Guitar Concerto in D major
Tchaikovsky Sleeping Beauty
Pas de Deux

No.3 Grand pas ensemble

No.6 Grande valse villageoise (a.k.a. The Garland Waltz)

Or something from Swan Lake or Nutcracker (I think the Arabian Dance would be lovely) - watch it and see what your favorite would be for weddings!
Most of Handel's Wassermusik is worthy

You can always surf itunes or youtube for ideas. A lot of time people make those playlists on itunes too.

Here are some other ideas:

We had an acoustic guitar and flute duo and even though DH and I are both professional classical musicians, we didn't want any classical or baroque music at our wedding!

He walked in to: Here and Now by Luther Vandross
I walked in to: What are you doing the rest of your life? Kander/Ebb
We also had the Hawaiian Wedding Song and Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World by IZ during the ceremony and recessed to September by Earth, Wind and Fire.

What kind of music do you and your FI like? Pick a general genre and go from there. I only recommend classical music if you're getting married in church or are having a more formal affair or if you actually enjoy listening to classical music on a regular basis. If your wedding is less formal or traditional, I say left your personalities be reflected in the music selections. We played all kinds of jazz, r&b, motown, etc. at our wedding even though we're both opera singers!

i havent decided whether to go classical or contemporary. some song ideas i have so far are:
classical:
Vivaldi - Spring and Winter
Jaquet de la Guerre for the harpsicord (we plan on having a solo harpist)

comtemporary:
Would it be too weird to use "Time to say goodbye" by Sarah Brightman???
i love the music, but the title is not appropriate for a wedding!

oh lori I love your selections! I have cds of all the songs (except the one you walked in to - I have that song, but by a different group).

This probably won't help much, but I've been thinking about using a Japanese pop slow song called 'First Love' by Utada Hikaru. Instrumentally on piano or guitar, it really sounds beautiful. I never thought about it until I heard the piano version at FI's friend's wedding (it was playing while everyone was waiting for the ceremony to begin). Translated into English though, it's a little sad in that the girl is reflecting on her first love that's no longer there, but it's still pretty. FI played it on the guitar for me once, and he found the notes online.
