I've been struggling with this for the past couple months and it's starting to interfere a little bit with our relationship. I want to nip this in the bud and quick since we're going to be married in less than 3 months. And I don't want them to hate each other forever because us three are going to be a family. : )

My fiance' Bryon dislikes my calico Poonee Puff Princess, and Poonee Puff Princess really dislikes my fiance' because she knows he dislikes her and because he loves to irritate her! Irritate her such as saying,"SCAT!" when she's sleeping, riling her up, not letting her up on the bed when she wants attention; and this is making her act even more "b*tchy" towards me to where she's starting to bite me when I pet her. : (

Why does he dislike her? Good question. Maybe it's a jealousy thing? I've even stopped spoiling her. He only tells me, "he just doesn't like her & that we need to get a dog!"

We're taking pre-material therapy sessions and this was brought up, except our therapist didn't give much advice and talking one on one didn't help either.

He accepts her, but he doesn't like her. And that bothers me. Some men just don't like cats, I understand. But I'm really HOPING that she will warm up to him and he will warm up to her.

How could he not love her face?! lol

Honestly, if it were me I would just tell him that she was in my life before him and he needs to learn to accept that and treat her better. My animals are like my kids. I only had one cat when I met DH and he didn't care for him much at first but once he got used to him they completely bonded. Now that cat chooses DH over me when we are lounging on the couch!!! However, DH never wanted to help out with feeding or cleaning the litter box because he was "my cat". After we were married we got a 2nd cat that my DH picked out so I instantly told him since we each had a cat we had to share responsibilities...and we have ever since.

Does your DH just not like cats?? Or is it only your cat?

My fiance' LOVES my brother's cat, Calvin(a tuxedo cat). lol

So it's not that he dislikes cats all together... he just disikes mine.

If he were nice to her, then she would love on him and try and create a bond. My cat is even going out of her way to get him to "love" or "like" her.

My cat is like my child as well Alison. Maybe that bothers him because I baby it?

It sounds like jealousy/immaturity to me. I think if I were in your shoes, I'd tell him how childish it is for him to pick on her for no reason (really, when she's sleeping? That's not right!) and that if he doesn't like her, he needs to grow up and learn to ignore her.

It sounds like how he's treating her is really stressing her out and making her act differently toward you - that's not fair for your Princess, and it's not very considerate to you... Does he think that if he acts like a toddler about it that you'll agree to get rid of your baby? If so, he's got some growing up to do. I'd be seriously pissed! That would not fly around here!
