I'm thinking of having a bowl of water and floating candles.

With or without a mirror underneath?

What about dye-ing the water to match my color scheme? Do you think it's cute or too corny?

Where is the reception taking place. If there will be low lighting I would use the mirror and maybe a few additional candles. They will reflect nicley off of the mirror. I would just be careful to balance the negative space on the mirror.

I like the idea of dying the water. If you aren't putting floating flowers also, it would be nice to pull some color in.

I had similar centerpieces. I had different sizes glass cylinders with orchids, greens and a floating candle on top of each one. Definitely NO mirror underneath! I am not sure if I like dye-ing the water to match your color scheme. That might be too much!

Thanks Soon2BWilcox and MrsBabySalute for your responses! If I had to choose between flowers and colored water, I guess I would choose the flowers. FI and I decided to have our ceremony and reception at the Del Monte Building in San Jose. We figured it was not too expensive, and our friends wouldn't have to drive that far. Here's a pic of the inside if you're curious. http://thehistoricdelmonte.com/pagesfolder/Ballroom_in_Burgundy.JPG
