On the side of my house where we never go is a garden, I don't know why they just didn't leave it as grass whoever owned our house before us but anyways. There is this garden that I never use, it has lots of ferns and weeds. You can't see it from the road or backyard, I only see it when I sneak up there to mow the lawn. Anywhoo 4 days ago this was not there, now it is. It's beautiful, but part of me thinks it's just a pretty weed????

Anyone recognize it?

I have no clue what it is but it's amazing! Check out the regional boards on gardenweb.com. Maybe someone on there can ID it for you. I wanna know now too!

Wow, I'm usually pretty good at finding plants but this one has me stumped.  It's not a "weed" in the traditional sense but a flowering vine.  The closest I've found so far is an "orchid vine" which is actually what I searched since it's flowers look so orchid like.

I think it's in the passion vine family as it resembles some of those flowers, too but I have yet to find it exactly!

It's pretty and I wouldn't kill it. (not that you would ;o)

Definitely not a weed.  :)

When the flowers are spent, if you pinch off the seed heads and split them open, you can scatter the seeds to other parts of your garden if you want.  :)
