I just saw this article on the yahoo main page...glad this doggy is alright!!  Just awful though :/

A 5-month-old puppy is recovering from surgery after his owner stabbed the dog five times early Monday morning.

At 3 a.m., Denver Animal Care and Control was called to an apartment at 6875 E. Iliff Ave. to assist Denver police, said director Doug Kelley.

The owner of the American bulldog said he became angry after the puppy bit him. He then grabbed a knife and stabbed the dog five times "slashing his face," Kelley said.

The puppy's owner, who had no visible bite marks, threw the puppy outside because he was mad the dog was bleeding in the apartment, Kelly said.

The puppy was found wandering near the apartment and was immediately taken to Alameda East Veterinary Hospital. After 3 hours of surgery the puppy was placed in an oxygen tent and is expected to survive.

"It's very concerning when you see a situation like this," Kelley said. "It's very sad, it's such a sweet puppy and you just wounder how something like this could happen."

On Monday afternoon, police arrested Matthew Weatherspoon, 19, in the case, said John White, spokesman for the Denver Police Department. He is being held and investigated for aggravated animal cruelty, a felony.

It's stuff like this that makes me care more about animals than humans.  Animals are innocent and don't deserve this type of treatment.

I agree as4968!  An eye for an eye right?  How in the world could someone do that?  I bet the dog bit him for a very understanble reason!  If the guy had no problem stabbing him 5 times, I bet he had no problem hitting him all the time either!

@AuntTate-I bet the dog didn't even bite him!!  The police said no visible bite marks, how bad could it really have been if they didn't even see anything?!  He was probably on drugs or drunk & is just a psycho, rage-aholic :(

This just makes me sick!  The sad thing is that the guy will probably get the charged bumped down :( He should get stabbed in the face 5 times and thrown out on the street!

People that abuse animals get me so mad!  Such a shame!  I'm also a firm believer in there are no such things as bad animals, just bad owners!!!!!!! 

OMG I'm crying! That is so awful! I can't believe anyone would do something like that to an adorable/innocent puppy! I hope the owner gets stabbed! That is just ridiculous!

This just makes me so sad and very angry.  Some people are so sick.  I'm glad the dog is doing much better and will survive.
