A friend of mine had 150 guests for about $10k at the Century House in Fremont. There is also the Freedom Hall in Santa Clara that has packages for 100 for way under $10k... but it's $12k for a Saturday.

Other than that you have parks and such. Getting married in the city limits of SF is going to raise your prices a lot... BUT if you're having a guest list less than 75 I highly suggest the Cliff House. It's gorgeous and very well priced. No room charge. $50pp for buffet. $700 to set up ceremony, $400 for dance floor. You don't need many decorations. The ceremony site is amazing.

budget is now at $75K.  i know it sounds crazy but just because of the venue, the photographer and caterer, those 3 really made the budget explode.  our venue in SF is one of the biggest reason why it's so high, that's $12,500 just for the venue.  photographer is $8700 and catering is at $13,000 - food was really important to us since we're both foodies.  this is all for about 100-120 people.

We're budgeting $16k for our wedding (not including honeymoon, ~80 guests), which means I will be in DIY heaven. Seriously, I LOVE projects - making things gives me a rush.

Luckily, our wedding is over 600 days away, so I've bought myself quite a bit of time to really scout out good deals, and do price comparisons.

We've already booked our venue (Brazilian Room, Berkeley) for the ceremony/reception for a "whopping" $2150. As long as I can find a good photographer and a DJ for not too much $$, we should be good to go!

Wow thank you all for contributing to this post.  Honestly when I initially posted this I was very hesitant on how brides would be in responding to this as $ can be such a sticky topic.

I realized that anything is possible although the Bay Area is quit expensive.  Its been amazing reading all of your thoughts and I look forward to see all your planning come to life.

ckqp, while the Julie Morgan Ballroom is an awesome venue and one of my dream venues, I can't get over the rental cost, almost the same as the catering cost. I'll be watching your posts, living vicariously.

I have kind of a backwards approach to the budget.  I figure out what I want & then I figure out the least expensive way to get it. It's hard for me to sacrifice on things that I really want, but I also don't have a bajillion dollars to spend.   I'd rather just figure out a way to get what at a reasonable cost, instead of compromsing my true desires. You'd be surprised how far creativity, ingenuity & will can get you.

My fiancé and I are saving a ton of money by doing it off season. We're doing ours at The Mountain Terrace in November and renting the venue is well under 2,000 (for engagement and ceremony). Food is buffet style and our centerpieces and much of the decorations will be vintage, diy (wildflowers mixed with origami flowers, old books, etc).

Our budget is 20,000 but I think we can make it at 15,000. I got my dress for under $300, custom-made! I got it here: http://www.lightinthebox.com/wholesale-Wedding-Dresses_c1181

Seriously, I thought it was too good to be true...but it fits me perfectly.
