What is your favorite Love Story?

MOST of us have grown up with Disney movies and Cinderlla and now we have a real life Cinderella as a Dutchess.

What was your favorite Love Story as a child?

As a child I loved Lady and the Tramp as well as Cinderella.

As a teen I loved the Scarlet Letter an odd lovestory, but one I understood because we often do not fall inlove with the person we should and there are all sorts of trials that arise out of loving the worng person and as a person for whom virginity was not in the cards it really came home to me. I always felt like I wore that A in school and even though noone knew it seemed like they did.

I fell in love with my now husband almost immediately, but like Emma, I thought he had his affections given to another and I tried to help him and her, but in the end I realized it was not her that he wanted, but me and boy did that make my day. It was so hard to given him the most honest advice, but I knew I had to and I knew if he were meant to be with me we would end up together. So the first 3 months after we met were spent with me trying to help them the way Emma was trying to Help Mr. Knightly and Harriet Smith.

This affected my wedding planning in that I decided against a large wedding, but instead had a simple affair and wedding cake.

I still prefer the simpler more genteel style wedding to the elaborate 150+ person attended weddings.

i never looked at movies as "love stories" when i was little. i loved beauty and the beast, but i never thought of it in a love way. 

i do love the love in twilight though. (team edward!) i always thought it was so amazing how much he loves bella for almost no reason. i still love their love, on and off screen. 

pretty much my favorite love stories are ones where the man LOVES the woman, not just loves her, but really actually loves her being and every bone in her body. and i am pretty confident that that is how DH feels about me. i have given him very good reason not to want me, but he has NEVER given up or backed down over the years. and i have never once doubted how he felt about me, which makes me love him more then i thought physically possible. 

nothing about movies has shaped my ideas of romance or how our wedding was though. i am very strong willed and have a good grip on reality, so i dont like to live in a fantacy world of hollywood or disney screen writers. nor do i want any of that. what we have is perfect. 

I agree with never falling for the movie ideas and ideals, but books they have shaped every aspect of who I am and that is sometimes for the better and sometimes for the wear and tear it caused in the reshaping of old views. Mark is definitely my Mr. Knightly, especially in his actions!

i can agree with that. books definently have a way of changing your perspective of things. espically if there is something that is in need of a change. i dont read. espically novels, but i did read bethenny frankels book, "a place of yes". and i read it at a point of my life where i NEEDED to read it. it really helped me realize things that i wanted to change about my lifestlye and gave me the courage to do so. which could be a huge factor in why DH and i worked out because once i was able to love myself, i was able to accept being loved so strongly by him. i was finally content with being single (when we met, i was a little less then 2 years out of a horribleeeee 5yr relationship), so i pushed him away because i didnt want another relationship like the one my ex and i had. then my bff bethenny (shes my fav) shed some light on my situation because we have had similar pasts!
