DH and I have to buy a new oven (36" yikes) and since I've never had to buy one before, what brand do you have? Likes/Dislikes? TIA!

We have the Whirlpool Gold double wall ovens.  They are great and are a lot hotter than the oven at our old place (probably b/c they are newer).  The only thing that I don't like is that the top oven has a self clean feature and I can't figure out if the bottom one has it or not (our house was a foreclosure so we are without all of the manuals for the appliances that were there when we moved it).  I'm thinking that it does self clean and I just can't figure it out!

I honestly don't know what brand we have!  It is a ceramic top w/ convection and self-clean.  I swear by convection.  One day I'd be interested in trying a gas stove, but not in this house!

I have a gas frigidaire oven.  It has self clean which is great since my throat closes off when I try to use ez off oven cleaner.  I don't know if you are looking for gas or electric but I have had both and if you are a baker, I think gas is the way to go.  It really makes a difference in the result.

spend the little extra and get a convection. My parents redid their kitchen last year and my step mom went on and on about that oven. When we bought our house the appliances came with it. Ours is a convection and I understand the hype. Ours is a maytag, convection oven.

One thing to keep in mind is where the knobs are I have a two year old who likes to touch numbers while he counts and I constantly yell not to touch the stove. I don't think this would be an issue if the knobs were up top...............

MARKANDE, that's funny that you mentioned the knobs - mine are at the top and I really really really want a stove/oven with them on the front next time! I hate having to reach over sizzling pans or boiling pots to change the temperature. But I will have to keep what you mentioned in mind for when we have kids!
