Are you typically over or under?

We are ALWAYS over!!! We just decided last night that we need to 'up' it a bit...we spend alot on food b/c eating well is important to us and it usually ends up being about $500 a month just for the 2 of us... (not going out for dinner, just groceries). I think that is insane but we have such a tough time cutting back!

We rarely eat out though...

You?

I usually grocery shop every 2-3 weeks, and I spend about $150-$250 depending on what we decide to eat, how longs it's been and what staples we are out of since I usually buy those in bulk.  The only meat we every buy is steak, hotdogs, bacon, or hamburger patties.  We don't have to buy pork chops/steaks or ground meat because DH hunts and this winter he killed 2 deer and a hog, so that saves us a lot on meat.   The weeks in between, I sometimes have to buy little things like milk or that 1 missing ingredient for something I just decided to make, but it's never more than $20-$30 on the weeks in between.  We usually eat out 1-2 times per week together, and we both eat lunches out with co-workers separately.  On the eating out, if we eat with his parents, they usually pay, but if we go alone or with friends, we pay.  It's rarely somewhere expensive though.  We eat at my mom's every Sunday for lunch.

I shop every week... We budget $100 per week for just groceries for the two of us... which should be $400 per month but we are also normally around $500 per month when all is said and done and we REALLY need to cut that down.

I make my list every week and do the shopping on Fridays... lately the over spending has been for stuff I get to make pot-luck items for parties and things we go to... or it comes from forgetting a certian thing and having the DH stop and get it during the week... and that adds up...

I am really trying to get back under $100 per week.

We spend around a $100 a week i actually think that is pretty reasonable when your talking about 5 or 6 meals plus lunch stuff.

I think we're at about $100 a week as well.  I'd LIKE to be able to spend less money but I also really try to eat healthy and buy organic for certain items.  It's such a dilemma when you're faced with trying to cut your grocery budget and eat healthy at the same time.

Grocery-wise, we're usually around $120/week.  But that doesn't include lunches (we eat out for lunch at work) and one, maybe two, dinners out each week.  Aside from our housing costs (mortgage, taxes, HOA, etc), food is definitely the biggest chunk of our budget.  But it's also our "entertainment" since we love to try new restaurants.  So whatever we're over in our food budget area, we don't feel bad about because we're always waaay under in the entertainment area.  (we use www.mint.com for budgeting and they don't calculate dining out as entertainment).

I usually spend between $130 - $150 on groceries a week that that is just for two people.  I buy a lot of organic and natural foods, so that drives the prices up.  Plus I cook clean most of the time which means I have to always buy more ingredients to make meals.

We rarely eat out (maybe once a week if that) so I feel that it is pretty good for us

I think we are a bit less than $100 per week... but we also eat out of lunch every week day...

I think we usually spend between $400-$500 a month but the thing that sucks is we spend a ton on eating out as well!!!
