My son who turns 12 today and does not want to celebrate his birthday.

I know it is because he does not want to grow up, but I also know he loves cake and baby back ribs.

Maybe a non birthday cake like Chocholate ganache covered peanutbutter cake and Baby Back ribs for dinner?

Any of you go through the Peter Pan syndrome with your child?

My LO is only 16 months, but I guess this time will come faster than I know ;-)

I think you're right and you should do a "non birthday" cake and the baby ribs for dinner. I'm sure he'll love it and he will be happy to still "celebrate" a little bit.

Ditto Olivia, it may even get him into birthday spirit.  My little sister has always been like that!

I love that idea! You know how it is when they start growing up! At least he will have two things he loves, plus you!

How did it go?

He loved his non birthday cake and ice cream and was crazy for his special dinner. The rest of us had fajitas sp? so, it really made him feel extra special. We also did not wrap his present.

I had one tiniest little sliver of his cake, but no icing and he was happy about me eating some cake.

My Brother and his wife and son called him to wish him happy birthday and his little boy age 4 sang Ricky happy birthday so at least he got to hear it even if I could not sing it. He was all smiles. He loves his little cousin so much. He loves all little kids.

What the little guy does not know is that at our Vow Renewal we are cutting the weddingcake and then we are going to be singing the Happy UnBirthday Song from Alice in Wonderland to ALL of the children and Each child will receive a small gift.

I thought this went spledidly with the High Tea Theme Yes/No?

And it is still not Happy Birthday.

Anyway, that is how it went.

Thanks Ladies. 12 is a hard age. Not a child and not a teenager.

I took my son out to his favorite restaurant and invited his 2 closest friends to go to the movies for his 12th bday.

You did good!
