surgery...love it!  They come in...have surgery...are scared...need a little comfort..need some help along the way...sometimes it's textbook...sometimes it's not...then I get to watch them go home!  Loves it!

I am responsible for a Medical and a Trauma ICU. I worked as a staff nurse for almost 10 years in the Trauma ICU - I...LOVE...TRAUMA!!!! hahaha...even though I am the CNS for both units now I still <3 trauma - now through my role and expertise I also get a chance quite frequently to care for trauma patients when they first hit our trauma bay in the ER - that has been great too!

And I teach parts of the national Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses course about every 3 months so that keeps me in that trauma world too!

Oncology. The other nurses on the unit are AMAZING. it sounds silly...but in my opinion having good coworkers is a MAJOR plus. I interned on a couple units that had REALLY catty nurses, which made every day miserable. And they didn't treat the patients well.

the nurses and entire team of HCP's on the oncology unit are truly outstanding. I am very proud to say i am now a part of that team.

Also..the patients are the strongest people i've ever seen. They face such tragedy, yet maintain humor and strength and hope. Amazing.

Neuro trauma is my favorite!! Our Trauma ICU gets every trauma patient admitted to critical care - we don't have a neuro ICU and the head's have always been my fav to take care of!

I work in an eldery home / outsourching health care organisation. We also give health care to people of all ages at home. It can be wound care, injections, medicines, help them shower/dress up, social-emotional help.

And I combine this with doing my extra year in school. In the NL there is an option to already work for a health care organisation / hospital and at the same time follow classes to become a nurse. With every year in school you get more responsebilities etc.
