My first class was calming.  So calming that I twitched myself awake during Savasana.

What was your first yoga class like, ladies?  Intimidating?  Relaxing?  Strenous?  Challenging?  Invigorating?

I had the GREAT idea of going to a power yoga class.  It was freakin' nuts. BUT, to this day, that class is still the best I've ever attended.  I kept up with it for 2 years until I moved to a different city. It kind of ruined me.  I miss that teacher so badly.  Plus, I no longer have the patience for "slower" classes.  Not very yogi of me, lol.

Mine was super boring because we just had a lecture about the history of yoga the first day :( (Such is taking a college yoga class.)

But my second day was absolutely fabulous! I just wanted to keep going! So relaxing and also energizing! :)

Haha!  I did the same thing SanFran and man, oh man, was I in for a surprise!  Power yoga is sooooo different from the slower Hatha yoga, but it was still good enough to get me hooked!

@lyfe_girl - Yeah.  Let's not count that as your first class!  lol  But hey, atleast you've got the background down pat now.  ;)

Okay, gotta join this power yoga conversation. We did some power yoga in my class today (it's a mix class), and I absolutely LOVE it. Today was my favorite day so far!

I am planning to take or join a yoga group I just need to find time and go. I have yoga DVD and I do that with my nephews they are only 4 and 2 it's so funny when they do yoga.

My first one was intimidating because i felt like i couldn't do anything.

My first class was less intimidating than I thought it would be.I don't know why I was super nervous. The neat thing I've come to learn about yoga is that you can modify it to your strengths and weaknesses. It's your practice! Each pose has multiple versions that make it possible for everyone. How cool is that?

I also underestimated the work out you can get from yoga. Some muscle is almost always sore (in a good way) the day after class!

After my first class, I knew I was hooked forever!

My first class was at my gym, about 8 years ago. I had already started practicing on my own at home with a self-teaching kit. I didn't get nearly as much out of the class as I was getting from my own practice, so I never went back. It was just too slow, and the postures weren't challenging enough. I'm glad to have since found some better classes around town, since I really enjoy practicing in a group!

Seriously, kudos to you Andrea!  I've always had a hard time getting into a home practice routine - it takes so much discipline, so that says a lot of great things about you and your commitment!  Do you happen to have a special little yoga space that helps keep you motivated?!  I'd love any tips on sticking to a regular home practice!  :)
