DH and I went to Florida for our honeymoon and just loved the weather there. We've been talking about picking up and moving for a change and really like Florida. I was wondering where do all of you live and what can you tell me about it?

I live in Orlando, about 10 minutes fron downtown, and it's definitely city living. There's 4 malls within about 45 minutes, a McDonald's, coffee shop, and CVS on just about every corner, and lots of people! We live in a busy area, but there are some quieter areas if you get further away from downtown. I don't always like the traffic, but other than that, I love Orlando. We have some beautiful parks and there's always something to do. As long as you stay away from areas like Pine Hills and MetroWest where the crime is high, it's an enjoyable place to live.

I've lived in Tampa as well and it's also a nice area.

Hey Meg. I live in Gainesville and my FI lives in Orlando. I absoleutely adore everything about Gainesville, granted it took some time to adjust since I moved here after growing up in Fort Lauderdale. I <3 it though. I am dreading the thought of having to move to Orlando, we are looking elsewhere so I don't have to. We'll see what he can find! Also, I went to college in Saint Augustine and loved and miss Saint Augustine. When I went to college there I moved up to Jacksonville for a year and I hated it. Clearly I just don't like big cities...no I really just don't think that is it. I love the feel of a community and unfortunetly I don't feel like that is there in Orlando and Jacksonville. Good luck with your search. :) Meghan

i live in boca raton which is in between fort lauderdale & west palm beach.  i love it here.  it's got a little bit of everything and if you want more action then go to ft. lauderdale or west palm for the night/ day.  people in boca really love their dogs.  you can even bring a little dog in a stroller to the mall.  boca can be a bit upper class but there's also many "regular" people here (like us).  it's very family friendly too.

i grew up in hollywood which is in between ft. lauderdale and miami.  it's very old school and depending on the neighborhood could be a little scary.  i wouldn't recommend hollywood unless is east by the beach.

i went to school in gainesville (go gators!!!) and it's a very nice place to live.  it can be very much a college town if you are close to the school, but there are some really nice places just outside of the city limits.  gainesville is very people friendly.  i really miss it at times.

we have friends in naples that we visit very often and i love it there too.  there's something about that coast that really gets to me.  it's very laid back.  although naples can be a little too quiet and old at times but they are really jazzing that area up so that younger people and families move there.

hope this helps...if you have any questions just ask.  8-)

Hey Meg, I also live in Gainesville - I grew up in the city, Bronx, NYC and have lived all over Florida including Ft. Lauderdale, The Florida Keys and Miami!  Gainesville is the best by far!  We have a little bit of everything but not in excess!  I'm a city girl and grant it right outside Gainesville's city limits it's cow town but inside it has EVERYTHING you need! Because of the University we have lots of diversity and culture come to our town!  We have a very strong fan base for our Gators - we truly love our team and you can feel the engery all over town - It's great! There's lot of youth here and cultural events, I mean can you believe big people like Elton John, Cher and Billy Joel perform here! We have our very own group "Sister Hazel" from Gainesville, whom you can run into at the grocery store from time to time and they will stop to chat with you too!  It is also known for its tree canopies, which are beautiful! My Fiance was still in NYC till about 3 weeks ago.   I waited for him to finally find a job here cause there was no way I was moving back to NYC!  He loves it here too!  Gainesville rocks - GO GATORS!

Hey, I grew up in Baker County right outside Jacksonville, but I currently reside in Tampa.  I will have my wedding in Jacksonville though.

I live in Palm Beach Gardens. It's in northern Palm Beach County on the east coast of FL. It is north of the miami sprawl that combs it's way from Miami?dade County through Broward and into PBC. I like where we are because it is quiet during the summer (though WAY TO HOT) and outside of the very hectic metro areas that have crazy drivers.

I live in Canada right now, but I was born and raised in Miami. We are moving there in a year, and I am so excited to go back! We're moving to Miami, so HURRAY!!

I live in Pensacola.  It's got a slow, small town feel to it.  There's not a lot of night life or anything, though we have it in easy reach in Biloxi.  The beach here is fabulous and unspoiled in a lot of places.  Pensacola doesn't have a good job market, though, so I wouldn't recommend relocating here if you don't already have a job in hand.  My FI moved from VA and had a hard time finding something.
