Where to put the glider?

So we don’t have an actually nursery room.  We’re keeping the crib and other baby things in our room.  But we’re also planning on getting a glider.  Do you think it would be better to keep the glider in the bedroom for convenient night time feeding?  Or would it be better to have it in the living room so that my MIL or other visitors can also use it while tending to the baby?

Are you breastfeeding?  If you plan on breastfeeding, you'll probably be more comfortable doing that in bed so I'd say put the glider out where others can sit and hold the baby.

I agre with Taryne.  I know that I will BF in bed while baby is in our room.  I would put the glider in the living room where it will get more use.

My mom is going to give us a rocking chair and we're also sharing a room with our LO but there's just nowhere to put it in our bedroom so it'll be out in the living room. I'll be BF in bed too so I would think it'd be ok to have it out in the living room. Whatever works for you!

You aren't going to want to nurse in bed for at least a little while - bfing a newborn is pretty hard and you will most likely want to be sitting with a light on making sure the latch is correct for a while - but then you will get to the point where you can just roll over and uncover a boob and baby will latch themselves lol. I would probably put it in my room still because you will use it for soothing baby and reading stories later on and as part of the bedtime routine. If you don't have room in your room then I would put it where you have room but be prepared to spend a lot of time sitting in your living room at night.

Thanks ladies.  KK, that's what I figured too.  We do have room in our bedroom for the glider.  Just wasn't sure if I would use the glider more at night time and therefore keep it in the bedroom or use it in the daytime, where I'd keep it in the living room.  Bedroom, it is.  I guess I could always move it too when the time comes.

LO will be sharing our room too for the first few months. We recently purchased a glider and its in our room. I plan on breastfeeding, I figure I can switch from bed to glider depending on how LO or I are feeling. Or if its DH turn to sooth LO, he can do so on the glider.

I tried b'feeding in bed...it sucks and I could not get comfy or get her in a good position...our glider is in the nursery and is my absolute favorite place to nurse. But...this week, because MIL is camped out here...I am nursing in our bedroom during the nite...using our office chair, which rocks and swivels...once she leaves I will be going back to the nursery.
