we didnt want to do the dollar dance cause we thought that why would people pay to dance with the bride or the groom but we did the dollar dance anyway and i am glad that we did. Do you want to guess who won the dollar dance?? I won of course and my husband lost so he had to dance to i am sexy and i know it. everyone was laughing so had. i wished that someone would have video typed it. but did not

I did not do the dollar dance and when I have gone to weddings I skipped this dance. Mostly because it feels awkward. If the groom had asked me to dance as a friend that would feel better, but it feels almost like I was imposing.

I should state I did stuff a little cash into the card box anonymously. I understand the point is to have that money for the honeymoon.

We didn't because we didn't have dancing at the reception, but I also don't think I would have been comfortable with it.  During the entire planning process, I did not expect one thing from guests--I didn't ask for a shower, and I didn't expect gifts.  We did do a registry, just in case people wanted to give us gifts and wanted some ideas, but I would have been okay if we didn't get any (especially since people gave gifts that were practical to our wedding).  We felt blessed just to have people there, and doubly blessed for the gifts they gave.  I just wouldn't feel right personally; I'm sure it's all in my head, but it felt like I would be saying, "Oh, thanks for the gifts and the time and the money you spent getting here, so hey, how about giving us more money?"

Please know that I'm not trying to put those down who have done a money dance; some good friends of ours did one at their wedding, and that was fine.  It just wasn't for us.

I agree with you moore. It is very much a personal preference and I am in no way putting it down. I am just shy about money. This is a personal issue. I am sorry if my previous comment sounded like I was against this in anyway. I do hope you have a money dance because I know a lot of people look forward to it.

We were originally going to do this as this is a huge part of Italian weddings.  Unfortunately, with my father going into the hospital on the Friday night of our Sunday wedding and all that craziness that ensued, we decided to skip it.

Our DJ ended up having all our guests do a group hug around DH and I at the end of our reception instead to do something special and it was the best thing ever.  I had never seen that done in any of the weddings that I have been in or gone to.  : )

I didn't want to do it, but DH did.

Actually, it was the only time I got to dance with 2 of my brothers. And I have 2 other brothers that I didn't get to dance with or have any pictures with (except formals, which I hate!).

Dollar dance or apron dance is an event at some wedding, but I didn't do it. :) :)

I'll do now after some days/
